Man City unleashed a bomb on social media, and gamers are losing their control. The official account of Manchester City thought it fit to give a simple yet loaded line: “Welcome back, James 🎮🧤 @EASPORTSFC | #FC26.” Well, the boy is going to be back in EA Sports FC 26, and the reactions have been just crazy.
First, who is James? Well, if you are in the world of FIFA/or FC, that would probably be James Trafford, a young goalkeeper who has been much talked about in recent times. The tweet was rather cryptic; however, with the gloves emoji and the FC26 hashtag, it was pretty clear it had to do with the game. And the players are loving it.
A very succinct statement, and I agree with @rozer100x: “It’s good to have him back.” However, not every pronouncement was welcomed with open arms: “@cursednumber7: Do another but more cringe. I’ll wait.” Ouch. So not everyone is going along with the hype.
Then @ELeonardo_RC said: “Finally a good GK in such a long time.” Brother, so true; goalkeepers in FIFA (sorry FC) have been… dubious. If James brings some stability, sign me up.
But some other responses dragged other characters: On the heels of this announcement, @okeson640 went in for another player: “Sell akanji pls that guy can’t defend.” Harsh, but hey, football fans (and gamers) are ruthless. Then there’s @scientificlaugh who just doesn’t seem to get it: “I’m so confused. He’s being promoted as if Ederson is out. I guess it’s because he was a City kid.” Is this just nostalgia, or is there more to it?
Some players, or perhaps the HR reps of these guys, have already taken it upon themselves to rate the boy: @yayatoure999 insists James “should get 85 rating.” Bold statement. Let’s see if EA or whoever’s running FC now agrees. Then there is @xSilentInvestor who definitely ain’t feeling James: “Nah bring me Haaland the ghost 👻.” Priorities, man.
This also led to some of the best takes. @MattMedina6: “A Trafford that doesn’t leak all over the place.” Great insult. And @joel_oten1 brings up an important question: “Welcome back. Who becomes the number 1 now .??” The real question. Is James actually number one, or is he just a secondary option?
One thing is for sure, EA Sports FC 26 has made waves of controversy even before its release. Whether you’re hyped for James’s return or here for the mess, this is-going to be a bitch to talk about. And with FC26 on deck, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
So what next? More teasers? Full reveal? Or just another set of cryptic tweets? Honestly, give whoever is in charge whatever fame if Gamer reactions can be pegged as an indication.
Oh! And @FanbaseXtra dropped the ultimate burn: “I guess you regret selling him before.” Damn. No chill. But hey, that’s football. That’s gaming. That’s life.
Anyway, welcome back James; let’s see what you got.
