Some hype was generated for the collect patches, one of the ones making the rounds alongside Wolverine rumors and the possibility of PC portsier aanval, this being courtesy of a tweet from Insomniac Games, the creators behind Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank. The tweet-heavy image shows a character calling somebody a nerd.

So, Insomniac Games just dropped this on Twitter, right? Maybe an older title, probably Ratchet & Clank, where one character points at us and says “hey, he’s talking about you 🫵.” And that was all. There was no further context whatsoever. But, man, the timing. The timing because there’s a Sony State of Play tomorrow. People in the replies are having their brains melted trying to figure out what it means.

Could this be a hint?? A teaser? Or are they just messing with us because they all know that we’re going to be glued to the stream tomorrow. The replies are a crazy mix of joy, demands, and sheer stupidity. One says, “@insomniacgames Guys, please, don’t disappoint us; please show Wolverine.” That’s like the big one. Everybody wants to see something-an-ything about the Wolverine game they announced ages ago. But information has been tight-lipped ever since that huge data leak last year, and people are hungry for anything.

Then there is talk of the Ratchet & Clank gang. Too many replies are demanding that the PS2 games be brought to modern systems. “@insomniacgames Can the PS2 Ratchet and Clanks be available on PS classics 😭” says one. The other one says, “Ratchet and clank collection for PS5 please 🙏😭”. It’s a whole vibe. The games are screaming for that nostalgia hit; and with PS5 having that darn PS2 emulator now, it should be pretty easy to ask. But Insomniac has said word one about it.

Then the PC gaming community jumps in. “@insomniacgames We need a Ratchet & Clank PC collection.” And that one got a lot of likes. Since Spider-Man and Miles Morales made their PC debut, it’s basically opened the gates. PC gamers now want lombax and his robot buddy to be next in line for a port. Makes sense; the games will look insane on a powerful rig. But, radio silence from the devs again.

Some of the funnier ones embracing their fate have got to be the best. One user admitted, “@insomniacgames I already knew I was a nerd.” While another one answered, “@insomniacgames I won’t refute that.” Like, yep, we’re all here on Twitter dissecting a single image from a game developer, obviously we’re nerds. But there’s some sort of community building there. We’re all in this together, waiting for the next big thing.

But it gets pretty interesting from there, as a user by the name of KKKODDDI commented, @”insomniacgames More like you guys after how fucking neutered you’ve become.” Ouch. That is some harsh criticism. Probably referring to how some games have felt safer recently, or probably the aftermath of the leak and corporate stuff. But the majority of the replies are far more genial, just hyped for what is to come.

There’s an international flavor too. A couple of the users, Yann12C and Cyranno7, are hopping around in French. One says “non c’est mes petites putes maintenant.” which means “no they’re my little sluts now.” That’s… aggressive? The other was like “Wesh respect insomniac !” which is like a French slang way of saying “hey, respect Insomniac!” So, there’s a whole drama unfolding in the quote tweets.

The most solid guess and it’s a pretty strong one would be that this tweet is directly tied to the State of Play. Being a first-party studio of Sony now, Insomniac is definitely going to show something. The question is what? Wolverine is the grand prize. If the leak placed release at 2027, a teaser now would be perfect timing. But could it be a new Ratchet & Clank? Rift Apart was a launch title for PS5, and it has been some few years now. Gamers are hungry for their next big adventure.

Or would this be a Venom game? That’s a very long shot. That post-credit sequence in Spider-Man 2 basically set the ball rolling. The only reply is, “@PachoSanles @insomniacgames Venom teaser 👀.” It would still be crazy. An official Insomniac Venom game would tear the internet apart. But maybe they’re saving that for later.

There is, after all, some substance behind the image. It’s from one of the oldest titles, which fuels the collection rumors even more. Perhaps they are about to announce a remastered trilogy for PS5 and PC. That is going to make a lot of people happy. Demand is very clear; just look at the responses. Constant requests.

However, they must be maintaining a pretty big secret right now. Not a single comment here has received a single answer from Insomniac till now. They ran away right after the tweet was unleashed. Classic tease. They sure know their way around building hype. And now we have this article written about them.

State of Play is always hit-or-miss. One day it’s bangers after bangers; next one, it’s… alright. Enter Insomniac, and the expectations fly through the roof. They have mostly been very consistent when it comes to anything Spider-Man and Ratchet-related. So gamers trust them to bring the goods. But this does put pressure on the team. If, after that tweet, nothing of importance is shown, then backlash is certainly going to come. Take a look at that one salty reply.

Thankfully, most fans remain optimistic. Remaining main part of the fandom spends most of its time cheerleading for the mutually beloved studio and games. It’s basically celebrate nerddom, and that’s just what the original tweet seems to be all about. They proudly embrace their fandom. So tomorrow is going to be a big day for all Playstation fans, whether it would be a glimpse at Wolverine, Ratchet collection, or something none of us were prepared for. Tune in and see if they’re talking about you.
