The companies Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche Software have made a big announcement. The open-world Harry Potter role-playing game Hogwarts Legacy, which was not unnoticed and was a topic of discussion and even debate before its release, has now achieved the astonishing amount of 40 million copies sold worldwide. Awesome, huh?

The developers made a simple statement through their twitter account that read, ‘Thank you to our Community for 40 Million Units sold!’ but the responses…they were pretty far from being simple. This is that type of case where the numbers are definitely speaking, but yet the players? Their voices are still very much heard.

Let us state it in such a way that the algorithm catches it and those who are just interested in the news see it. Hogwarts Legacy, the action RPG set in the Wizarding World, has reached no less than the amazing 40 million copies sold figure all over the world since its release in February 2023. Quite mind-bloggling, isn’t it?

It is a contender for the title of best-selling games of these past few years and is a great victory for Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. Games, especially considering the controversies surrounding the game during its launch. And now, we are ready to dig into the meaty part of the tale.

The announcement tweet was like a magnet that pulled in everyone’s comments as if with the spell Accio. There was the magnet. A moment of pure joy and happiness for the game couldn’t get any better. One such user, ‘Matt Horning,’ decided to share his delight and said that he still cherishes the Hogwarts experience where he has had a delightful and amazing venture around the castle.

Another player, ‘Charles Wagon,’ called it the best game ever and added a note of thanks to J.K. Rowling, in case she was still in the picture. What a vibrant and energetic vibe that was to be the reason for those sales! To many of the Potter crazies, the game was a paradise—they were living it when the castle was done for them and opened up for exploration. It is a very tangible feeling.

But…then you scroll down a little. Here comes the drama. I mean why not? The entire controversy surrounding this game is such that it seldom dies; it just goes into hibernation until someone posts about it and it wakes up.
