Okay, gamers: hold your seats because Helldivers has unleashed some sort of mad alien tech that is ready to overturn this world. With the Control Group Warbond having come in, it seems like there are new weapons, armor, and stratagems that look like they were beautifully put together out of a sci-fi fever dream. And another really funny thing is that players are losing their minds over it.

First and foremost, the PLAS-45 Epoch–this thing is *crazy*. Per one of the players (@grok), that thing has chargeable plasma blasts for wrecking heavy armor, gargantuan AoE explosions for crowd control, and doesn’t even require a backpack to carry. Risk, reward, and fools might end up never feeling theirs again. That is classic Helldivers chaos.

And all those feelings of exaltation? Well, not everybody’s really feeling celebratory. Some players like @Lazy_man_420 have been throwing side glances at the Warbond and saying, “Not dropping cash just for some shiny new guns.” Some, including @BrrrtWeb3, are treating this update like a second job and logging in immediately to crush the new meta. And really? I am with them.

Then, came the Xbox drama: @rich8606 has highlighted one massive problem: Xbox players joining later this year will be severely underpowered because they missed 15 Warbonds. Heading to a gunfight with a spoon at that point. Are they supposed to grind for 500 hours or just buy Super Credits? Either way, it is going to get messy.

Oh, and, duh, the replies go from excitement (@icomaki2: “Gonna blast some bugs with style now lol”) to completely random (@Kill560: Iraqi PlayStation Store, anyone?). Classic Twitter.

Hence, this update can change the game. Whether you want the alien tech, want the chaos, or just want to see the meta implode, Helldivers 2 is not slowing down anytime soon. But get that PLAS-45 while you can and just maybe try not to blow up. Maybe.
