Prepare your trick shots, Halo fans, because 343 Industries has just launched some spicy new gameplay mechanics as part of Summer Update. Bank shots with the S7 Sniper? Indeed! Bullets will shimmy off surfaces in some John Wick meets NBA Jam nonsense, and this is hitting ground inside Halo Infinite on 6th May; the clip has already got players going crazy.
Spartans lining up the shot on this Mega Short Tease as the bullet ricochets off the wall to go dome-on to the poor sod huddled behind cover.
Talk about mechanics that are going to either be the best part of someone’s day, or have you screaming foul at the screen while they pull off a miracle shot. Either way, guaranteed chaos.
This is also the extreme anti-thesis of what the sandbox typically provides. The S7 was already shattering as far as the most satisfying snipers in Halo history, but now? Now it goes geometry.
Players are learning angles as if they are in a pool hall calculating bounces to deaden the noise in the middle of a gunfight. Think of those theater mode clips; people won’t be sniping from one end of the map to the other just for the flex with their no-scope bank shot.
No replies on the tweet thus far (likely because everyone’s still attempting to soak in this insanity), but you KNOW the community’s going to have takes. Broken, they’d say; one might say, it increases the skill ceiling.
For both people, they could be right. And without a doubt, this is just the kind of bold move that makes Infinite feel fresh again after that rough period post-launch.
Between this and those leaked, flood game mode rumors, summer seems like a special dessert being made at 343. This keeps throwing out surprises like this-one in Infinite-and it may just get that much-anticipated momentum it’s all been waiting for. 6th May can never come fast enough; just pray you don’t get styled on by some physics-defying ricochet when it does.
