So, buckle your seatbelts, Spartans, as 343 Industries debuted the first look of the Halo Infinite 2025 Fall Update, and it is some serious heat—meaning literal heat. Players have been introduced to a brand-new weapon concept, the upgraded Weapons Bench, and countless options on customization within #OperationShadows. This has already created a buzz among the community.
Now, the moment to talk about that brand-new weapon. The name hasn’t yet been confirmed, but the gamers with eagle eyes spotted a Banished-style rifle somewhere there in the teaser. Some hypothesize a form of carbine, while others suggest something else entirely. Whatever it might be, it still looks like something that would fit in nicely in the jolly streets of Halo with its sleek yet deadly design.
What else is happening? This one is a big one: The Weapons Bench upgrade. More guns than ever are customisable with coatings, and the community is already getting heated about which guns were blessed with the best looks. A certain player by the name of OrbitalDropSangheiliTrooper is intent on making the Gravity Hammer into a banana—and I got to give him respect for his dedication to chaos. Others are begging to get Banished vehicle customization next because man, why stop at weapons when a Warthog could look like it got out of an ugly neon nightmare all by itself?
That’s an obvious split in the community feelings. Rancorgen and others have stated that this should have been available from launch but that it’s better late than never. And then there’s the almost Frankenstein debate on coatings: half are down on the plastic hell of a shiny dust raise, while the other half, being John Hagen, asks suspiciously, “Why do they all look so plastic? Is it just the coatings?” A valid question, John. A very valid question.
More hype? Yes. Down in Operation Shadows is new armor sets and weapons skins and likely hints for some possible returns. Jim straight-up demanded the snowman helmet because nothing screams “I’m here to dominate” like looking like a festive Frosty the Spartan. Oh yeah, and before I forget, thanks to HaloPenguins Gaming, the reveal of the Black & Red variant for the Gravity Hammer coating has set mouths of players watering.
But here is where the icing on the cake comes in: some gamers still have hope these will end up in the campaign at one point. Reax8091 tweeted, “All they have to do is add all this new stuff, weapons and vehicles, to the campaign and my dreams will finally be fulfilled.” Honestly? Same. Imagine rolling through Zeta Halo with a tricked-out Banished rifle and a banana hammer. Chef’s kiss.
However, for the doubters—yeah, I see you, CamoTheKobold commented, “Oh hey, after years they finally made CONTENT!” And that’s fair. Post-launch support for Halo Infinite has been… slow, putting it nicely. But this update seems to be the moment when 343 is really living up to its reputation. At least CackleTheory went on to say he might play again now since it has as much weapon customization as MCC. That’s pretty scathing praise, considering MCC is seen as the gold standard when it comes to Halo content.
When’s next then? Theory crafting for further updates is already underway with the players: Will the Energy Sword, Skewer, and Fuel Rod Cannon be next in line for the customization treatment? Gruffcash says yes, and, honestly, we’re all for it. And let’s not forget the elephant in the room, the Halo 5 weapons, chilling in the files. Are we seeing the H5 shotgun making a return? CamoTheKobold sure thinks so, and I’ll be telling you: that plane’s leaving the station.
Bottom line: Right now, the 2025 Fall Update might very well change everything about Halo Infinite. New weapons, deep customization, and an excited yet playfully scathing community; they want that banana hammer or those long overdue content drops. Let’s be honest, Halo’s still cool. Now if you’ll excuse us, we have a Gravity Hammer to be turned into fruit.
