With new views in place concerning the recent tweet of the official Halo account, a fiery debate erupted between the two famous armor sets: Hayabusa and Yoroi. The tweet featured fan art by @pikathorchu and asked gamers to “choose your fighter” accompanied by blue and red emojis, respectively, along with very interesting comments.

First off, for those who never ever have and never will breathe in any lore of Halo, Hayabusa is the legendary ninja-inspired armor from Halo 3, whereas Yoroi is the samurai style of the Fracture Core armor in Halo Infinite. It is an extremely fierce debate, armed to the teeth with loyal supporters on either side. Some players, such as @Taunky, dropped it like a hot potato: “If your answer is Yoroi, you aren’t a Halo fan.” Ouch. Retaliation came from the opposition, i.e., @PrimeStrafe, with an “Sorry if I prefer samurais over ninjas bro.” And they’ve got me feeling spicy.

But it wasn’t all just Old vs. New. Others, such as @imaSamster, tried to quell the fire by explaining that Yoroi is one of the Fracture Cores—non-canon “what if?” designs aimed at exploring alternate Spartan styles. However, @CatGoesHARD called it “ugly” and said that “it doesn’t look like a Spartan at all.” Harsh words, but personal armor tastes and preferences exist.

And now, some peculiar opinions must grace the arena for any proper conversation about Halo. @TodayzKiller went in on a rant about microtransactions and peppered in a diss aimed at “rainbow flag people,” okay, sure. And then @Jaybrown03INC pitched the idea of a Halo fighting game? Well, honestly sign me up for that.

The funny thing is, some didn’t seem to want to pick a side. @RockyHarmon6 asked: “Can I choose both?” while @gruffcash reacted with a meme of their Spartan going neutral. Quite the wise move, really. Then along came @wort_wort_wort with some classic Elite war cries out of the blue. Legendary.

But the real dark horse! The real elephant in the room is an earnest interruption by @MattOnTheRails, hijacking the thread to ask, “When is matchmaking going to be improved?” Because, priorities. The moment was then taken by @m1_nezz to demand Halo 5 on PC. Valid.

At the end of the day, regardless of your allegiance between Team Hayabusa or Team Yoroi (or Team “Why Not Both?”), one thing is for sure: Halo players are passionate. Perhaps way too passionate for their own good. But that’s good for the community—debating endlessly, dispensing crazy viewpoints, and dropping memes all over. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some Halo 3 remixing to do just to rub it in people’s faces: Hayabusa armor, all the way. Just giving you that.
