Halloween chills can only be forged by Rockstar spirit, and it was surely time for a brand new big thing to grind for. The Vinewood Undead Collection is up for grabs now, but you know what they sayy-the devil is in the details-and so much depends on those Weekly Challenges that pretty much run for three whole weeks. Nail all of them, and the restless spirits of Halloween fashion will be forever at your feet.

What are these tasks, anyway? For week one (October 2-8), players have to survive through 2 waves in any Survival mission. October 9-15 assigns you to complete 3 Taxi Work fares-good vibes compared to the usual craziness. Finally, October 16-22 hands you a simple task: win just one Adversary Mode match. That’s about it for three weeks, three challenges, and you’ve bagged the whole Vinewood Undead Collection. This is lovely, isn’t it?

The announcement threw out rays of hope as comments flooded the field, with Eliza Crichton-Stuart going, “LETS GOOO 💀🎃👻,” and xetyres adding, “Great week to grind and make Millions.” As always, as soon as the post went live, half the hopefuls hoping for GTA VI marched forth. They raved, “Just post the fucking trailer,” while another scoffed, “Here comes GTA VI Trailer 3 crybabies.” It is almost textbook-Full-throated cries for the next installment from every update of GTA Online.

Players were facing certain technical issues, as TomatoMan45 claimed that allegedly his friend never received the 500k dollars for finishing the missions of Gerald, enquiring Rockstar on the missing payment while baseballfanva27 themselves were having problems finding the zombie-themed content and wondering why the snow variant wasn’t showing on their map. Typical GTA Online– some bumps in the road when new content arrives.

Community reaction, beyond the GTA VI-wanting, was divided on this question. Victorythepone, among others, were speculating that “this might actually be the last Halloween update” for GTA Online, which kind of fits with GTA VI probably being just around the corner. Others demanded updates for other games, with naajiu pleading, “Give us new content on RDRO please!!!” and Unyimusic asking about a current-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Another hot-button debate erupted about whether Arabs should even be playing GTA, with one alleging, “Arabic people shouldn’t be playing these kind of games,” which…what? Some others defended Rockstar’s titles in the global context. Pretty much classic Twitter chaos.

What’s fascinating is that Rockstar has to keep inventing ways to keep GTA Online relevant all these years later. Seasonal events such as this Halloween challenge give established players a goal to work towards while simple requirements keep newer players engaged. Outlast 2 survival waves? Literally beginner stuff. Complete taxi fares? Just drive around and listen to radio stations. Win one adversary mode? No matter how bad you are, you’ll eventually get lucky.

The Vinewood Undead Collection will probably slot nicely into GTA’s over-the-top feel. While Rockstar hasn’t exactly shown what will be part of it, previous Halloween collections have run the gamut from zombie masks to horror-themed vehicle liveries to clothing that looks like a walking corpse just clawed its way out of the grave. Given the “Undead” title, we are almost certainly talking about some very serious Walking Dead vibes here.

I can say that it’s brilliantly timed-so beautifully timed-so throughout all of October, it builds the anticipation for the Halloween weekend itself. Players completing all three weeks will showcase their new, spooky gear for the larger GTA Online Halloween events and temporary game modes.

Even with these complaints about GTA VI, this loyal community has been playing GTA Online every day, and events like these give them things to aim for beyond the regular grind. The comment sections will be filled with search-lights for the new trailer; meanwhile, the players who actually log in for the game really gets excited about the free Halloween swag.

So, for every GTA Online player that remains in 2024-the lives of real players-apart from just logging into this free Halloween swag, these are the days that must be circled: survival waves from October 2 to 8, taxi work from October 9 to 15, and adversary mode win from October 16 to 22. Do the three and be the ghastliest player of Los Santos on Halloween night. A decent way to celebrate the season, even as the announcement of GTA VI continues to howl from everywhere.
