While the game just released some new wallpapers from the “Paralogism” series, the general… well, let’s say gamer community, is not exactly being very sunny about it. The game with the official account tweeted the announcement, asking people to download wallpapers of different dimensions. The impatient ones rushed to fill the replies with demands and complaints, behind the usual chaotic energy that makes the Genshin Impact fandom special.
So, first the good stuff: some of the people actually like the designs. DoceViida said, “This wallpaper is beautiful!!😍.” Yumikaeheng added, “THANK U FOR THE FOOD HOYO.” WalkingReads said, with great enthusiasm, “Thanks for the Paralogism wallpapers for Genshin Impact—downloading now!”
Then came the salty statements.
Another recurring theme in the replies? The absence of Lumine, the female Traveler option. Various individuals have outright asked “Where is Lumine?” or “Is there a Lumine version?” Among these were poteatouwu and starrail_id. And frankly, it is a good question: why release wallpapers featuring protagonists but not include both versions of the protagonist? Genshin allows players to identify as either Aether (male) or Lumine (female) at the start, so to leave one out feels rather weird.
LeonidasX666 went on about, “Too bad it’s missing half of the English VO…I thought you guys fixed that!?” Whereas kangaroobixcube was screaming at the top of his lungs: “FIRE @SAG_AFTRA ALREADY, THEY’RE THE CRAPPY VAs ANYWAY.” The voice actor strike has obviously left scars, and players are not letting Hoyoverse forget it. Some, like Karukera131, even suggested making the move to AI voiceovers-yikes!
And of course, no Genshin Impact update would-be worth the name without some unhinged takes on it. Milayadariko requested, “Can you rename Wriothesley as ‘Neuvilette’s dildo’?”̃ While kokomi_mylove_ dived deep, saying, “Kill yourself🙏”(which, uh, probably didn’t need to be said). Meanwhile, ItsKingLeon_9 took a break from wallpaper hype to demand, “$2 a pull is ridiculous fix your game 💀🫵🏻” because gacha rage never sleeps.
Some players, in the middle of all the chaos, did begin to speak about specific issues with the wallpapers. Jetaimesooshi saw that the portrait versions for “Whirling Waltz” only had Kinich and Wriothesley and said, “wb the girlies and Ifa x Ororon.” NavjotSR93 was very particular about specifications: “We need wallpapers for 49-inch ultrawide monitors.” Fair.
So another day, and yet another Genshin Impact update manages to simultaneously unite and divide the fanbase. Wallpapers are free, chic, and available for download. If you thought you’d be hearing praise from everyone, LOL. This is Genshin. Nothing ever goes smoothly.
