HoYoVerse has announced a new event for Genshin Impact and players have already gone wild. The “Ruins Exploration: Fieldwise Center” event will take place on November 7, 2025, and players will be returning to Sumeru for desert investigations, maybe even large-scale ones. Enemies will be examined, riddles will be cracked, and skirmishes will be practiced, as this is nothing but the type of content the Genshin community is now raving about.
What then is the new event about? Travelers will return to Sumeru to reunite with old friends and investigate a strange occurrence deep in the desert. The fun part is that by performing a series of tasks, players will be gifted the “Sprout of Rebirth” Collei (Dendro) challenge reward. Let’s face it, who doesn’t love free characters? You’re not only getting Collei but also Primogems, Crown of Insight, an Outdoor Furnishing Blueprint, and more that will make it worth your while to grind through events.
Players’ responses have been extremely powerful; I would call them nothing less than intense. One user @zal_po even proclaimed “PEAK IS COMING,” which could be viewed as the general feeling among the users. There is an overwhelming excitement about going back to Sumeru and @g_tracenpandas just stated it very simply, “I miss Sumeru!”—a sentiment that many other players seem to have after spending a long time in the new regions like Natlan.
But here comes the twist—the community is quite split on the Collei reward. For instance, @vesperamyst argued that ‘we don’t want free collei she is useless.’ This was indeed quite a statement. And @Kosmikaze4real put forth a strong point that how the players who have been around since 3.0 might have several copies of Collei already and hence, asking, “CAN YOU GIVE 4 STARS THAT ARENT ALREADY FREE!?” It’s definitely a reasonable argument. If you have been a player since Sumeru’s launch time, then another Collei constellation may sound somewhat… boring.
At the same time, the fans of Layla are not missing out on anything and are in full swing enjoying their time. The event has brought Layla to the front, and her supporters are the loudest. @M0H4RIB was just “I Love Layla” like fifteen times, which falls under both the categories of being a bit creepy and cute. @llovikel proclaimed “LAYLA???? IS THAT MY DAUGHTER??? HOLY SHIT LAYLA CONTENT???” and crying emojis followed, making it even more melodramatic. Even though Layla is not the current character being awarded, her presence is quite underrated, and thus the excitement for Layla’s appearance is overshadowed.
Besides, some very good discussions on other characters are happening too. @SarahJa72298639 is literally begging for Zandik lore with a string of “PLEASE” and crying emojis, whereas @DrWebyke is all about “OUR BB ZANDIK.” The Dottore fans, indeed, are making their presence felt, even if the event does not specifically mention him.
Different opinions were shared when it came to the puzzles part of the event. @Thiyagu17296539 voiced it so strongly as to say “Stop the puzzles or keep simple puzzles we don’t have patience to solve” which is pretty close to my own feelings when playing Genshin. There are times when one just wants to defeat a few enemies and collect primogems without having to solve the puzzles that are hidden in the desert, do you know what I mean?
Furthermore, one cannot fail to mention the standard Genshin community outcry with bizarre requests coming in from time to time. @Mythic_Pinecone is during this period asking for more Mondstadt content instead of Sumeru and Natlan while @Cyberfox64 is rolling out the “DAY 453 of asking to add data transfer of servers” celebration. I really must say that the determination of the players is impressive.
The most intriguing aspect of this new event is that it looks like it will be a perfect mix of nostalgia and progression at the same time. The return to Sumeru is like a homecoming for a lot of players; they would have the best time exploring the region back when it was first disclosed. Especially the desert regions contained the most complex world-building and lore in the game, so the offer to once again unravel those enigmas is truly very enticing.
The reward system is quite akin to what Genshin events have given in the past—character, primogems, and other similar things free of charge. Yet, the Crown of Insight is a consistent nice addition as these things are harder to come by than a soft day in Teyvat. And outdoor PlayStation and Xbox players alike can enjoy these adventures.
