Well, it could be that the Genshin Impact players are throwing cash upon the screen at this moment. Well, not really. By “not working,” I mean the Epic Games Store version of the game will not take your money. Imagine how hurt you must feel not being able to whale for your favorite 5-star character.

A little note was issued by HoYoVerse regarding that: “Uh, hi guys, Epic’s store is kinda broken right now, so if you’re trying to buy Genesis Crystals or Welkin Moons, good luck with that.” No ETA on fix-it; just the usual “we’ll let you know when it’s back, sit tight.” Basic.

That shouldn’t be a major issue, but then again, Genshin Impact is basically fueled by FOMO, kind of like how Teslas are run on battery. The money just really isn’t ever such a big deal, but these top-ups could mean not getting valued chances at a limited-time character banner, and you know how that goes with the players. The replies? Mostly crickets (probably because everyone’s too busy screaming into their pillows), but you just know the forums are a warzone right now.

Funny thing is, this isn’t even a case of their payment system failing for the first time. Remember when Fortnite players couldn’t purchase V-Bucks for, like, a whole day? Pure chaos. Total chaos. By now, Epic’s storefront behaves like a friend that owes you cash but never actually carries their wallet.

So what now for the traveler? If you could give it a try between the mobile and the web page of Mihoyo, that could work, if you are not locked into the ecosystem that is Epic. Otherwise? Pop some corn and glare at the primogem count, hoping it gets fixed before Ayaka’s banner is lost in oblivion.

HoYoVerse better get their act together, and the one thing that makes gamers angrier than not being able to give money to a company is to be delayed by technical problems. What was I saying? Oh, yeah-Epic, fix your store. Please.

(Update: no update around fix so far, but at least “we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience” is chef’s kiss for nationwide corporate speak. Yeah, yeah, just take my money already.)
