A totally new kind of nostalgia just slipped into Xbox, courtesy of Delta Squad and a dynamic new background, with all-intense reaction rants and reports. The official Gears of War Twitter account announces this news alongside a download link for the background, and immediately, replies explode in a chaotic broadcast of hype, whistles, and complaints.

First of all-a gorgeous background of Marcus Fenix and his crew: all beefy and armored, ready to gaze menacingly down from your Xbox dashboard. Uh-oh, some are not having it. Some players do seem to be complaining about Marcus’s face, saying that it looks too baby-faced, as compared with the grizzled war vet they remember. One offended commenter wants the original, though, claiming this one just ain’t it. Other observations regarding the backgrounds crash the “dynamic” title, with stating the movements feeling somewhat static.

Then you have the PlayStation bunch, and surprise, surprise, all salty and bitter that Xbox gets exclusive Gears content. In the meanwhile, some players are pleading for a PlayStation version of this dynamic background, with Gears of War: Reloaded arriving soon to PS5. One user even said, “Most Gears of War fans play on PS5,” which… okay, sure, buddy. That statement was roasted immediately when another player said, “Bold and wildly inaccurate statement there!”

Well, drama aside, other replies were just as enthusiastically pumped up about Delta Squad’s launch. One reminisced, “Can it be Xmas 2006 again?” Another one dropped the legendary Cole Train quote: “WOO! YEAH, BABY!” Because seriously, what is Gears without some hype train energy?

Wait, hold on. There’s some guy slipping in there demanding a free code because he’s been a fan ’til 2008. Sorry, my dude; no freebies here, you just hit the link and get it like everybody else.

So what’s the verdict here? If you’re an Xbox gamer and you fancy Gears, maybe this dynamic background goes down nicely as a little bonus to the entire setup. If you’re on a PlayStation… watch out for future updates. And those just here to bash Marcus’s face? Well, um, are they talking about this guy?

Meanwhile, Gears of War: Reloaded is already around the corner, so whether you are on an Xbox or a PlayStation, these Locusts are coming to clean up. So grab that background and start chainsawing some fools.

Oh, did I say here is the link again, for anyone still wondering how to click.
