When that one simple question was submitted by Razer to mere mortals with a gaming attraction: ‘What is your most controversial gaming opinion?’ And so, the answers poured in. The thread devolved into a war zone as impromptu and, dare-I-say, bilateral unpopular opinions ensued. Let’s put that chaos into words.
First, and I guess Nintendo lovers want to sit down for this one: Blu, hiding behind anonymous, stated that Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was not fun. I know what I just said. The game that won hundreds of awards and reinvented an entire genre of open world? Hmm, definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. Elsewhere, Alex Fieldhouse said that Nintendo games were overrated. Oof. That will sting.
Now, for the juicy ones maybe. Good and truly Daniel Gonzalez didn’t hold anything back to say: ‘Xbox and Nintendo are slowly killing the gaming industry.’ According to him, the Xbox way is buying these studios and then… just doing nothing? Nintendo fans will buy anything with a Mario sticker on it. Harsh? Maybe. At least he’s right on the point about some blind loyalty.
Then there’s the age-old debate-Witcher 3 vs Red Dead Redemption 2. Count Gustav dropped a bombshell saying Witcher 3 is better but admits Arthur Morgan has a better character arc than Geralt. Meanwhile, Gohms said the Witcher 3 was boring AF. And another one, Bryan Jarvis, just declared it mid.
Things went down in the shooters-highlights, after Halo 3, Peoples declared, everything is crap. Drex dropped the ultimate hot take on COD, claiming that Advanced Warfare is the best, and if you disagree, well, you suck. So bold! Contrarily, JackLeftTown 427 wants everyone to boycott Call of Duty. Best of luck with that one, buddy.
Then, some just got confusing. Expedition 33 is the greatest story ever told in a video game? Turns out we have to give a shoutout to Ray B for that really strong opinion. And then one other guy went out and said Elden Ring is boring. Dude, are we even playing the same game?
Not all was negativity. Edunb412 stood up for The Last of Us Part II, calling it really good (though it should have been the third game). Hunter D Mannix said the souls game is fun. That, I guess, is a rare moment of peace.
And yet, the ultimate winner? The one who said that you do not have to buy a new game since you have 100+ in the library. Too real. Come on; we have all been there, turning our Steam backlog into… maybe next year.
At the end of the day, gaming opinions are like… well, know the saying. Everyone has one, and some will make you question humanity. That, however, is what makes the community more fun: endless arguments, hot takes, and those moments that make you shout, did they really just say that?
What is your most controversial gaming opinion? Just… perhaps do not @ Razer with that unless you are ready to get burned.
