On Tuesday, Epic Games revealed the entire schedule for the Fortnite in-game Winterfest festivities, designed for all players to enjoy, with Lt. Winter once again involved in presenting Christmas gifts. Father Winter will showcase 14 rewards this year, offering you one each day when you go into the game. The top rewards? The Glacial Dummy Outfit and the Cheeks Outfit are your rewards after you have unwrapped 7 and after collecting the 13th one which makes a total of 20. It’s an advent calendar event, and so much for tradition that sees gamers nearly expect it to happen every year-the resources linked to gaming depicted non-stop Christmas stuff.

So, regarding those outfit designs-what does the Glacial Dummy look like? The Glacial Dummy seems to be styled after one of the dummies used to demonstrate CPR adjustments in icy cold temperatures, therefore anything not glaringly sexy and rather neat and nice is quite probable in winter. And the Cheeks Outfit… that pretty much spells it out, doesn’t it? It’s supposed to be something risible and possibly an annoyance out on the island because it will necessarily be a holiday-themed, obnoxious rip and tear thing. The official blog announces all these things, basically, but people will just log in, pick a present, and get free stuff. Now, who doesn’t love that?

However, as with any celebration, the real story doesn’t sit in the original tweet but rather somewhere hidden down in the reply thread. That is when gamers went above and beyond with… shall we dare to call them passionate comments or reactions? The creator code signify relates to a user immediately, Drip0x—good move by the way. Right there is classic Fortnite community behavior.

This is where the stream of requests began. Milo_Typo took the request in his/her heart, saying it back… with a crying emoji and a link. But who in the world is “him” then? They never said, making players in the replies-just as baffled-as to who they were talking about. Perhaps an old skin, maybe an admired character? Oh good lord, the speculation is K-I-L-L-I-N-G me. Another user, Dawson Taylor, just came straight out for the ‘Home Alone’ collaboration. Who says that is not a great idea”? I mean… a Kevin McCallister skin with a paint can as a back bling? Is anyone from Epic listening?

And the cries do not even stop there; Apollodagoat is kind of begging for a “Chainsaw Man” arrival to the island. And Sponge has commented that Hatsune Miku is not free. “I kinda saw that one coming.” As usual, the big events will need you to pay for that stuff; big surprise.

Not all responses were filled with requests. Another set came from players voicing dissatisfaction. Pctove pointed out that the Snoop Dog icon series skin was nonexistent–this sucks, big L! then added a political one for the fun of it. Replies are just so much more than just about the game, aren’t they? It’s a vibe.

In other threads, some users ended up striking a faux-conversation about wings? Justchespie wrote a poll that asked, “Wings or no wings?”, following this up by replying to their own poll with something enigmatic about “Koda Nexus” giving you wings and linking to a stream. Now, this refers to what the social media was truly created for. What this Koda Nexus thing could be when it comes to Winterfest I’m only guessing, but apparently they are живые.

Some other comments were slightly more sensible. ZappyComet was curious if here could be a “more true to Sgt Winter style” skin back in January, possibly after the holiday season. Dirty Dan had a different perspective, asking, “Does he have XP for us?” Truly, the battle pass will not grind itself, and supercharged XP days are lifesavers.

All that Master could do was rally everyone with “Let’s grab it, guys!”-Just the spirit! Cozy cocoa mentioned that there’s “No new Leelah skin bug”-sounds a lot like a callback to a previous “issue” with a skin bearing the Leelah moniker. So maybe we are at a good point this time?

Winterfest, when all is said and done, is a successful event-a fun, free, and reliable event that brings Fortnite to a close for the year. Rewards are respectable, mechanics are simple, and engender playing the game quite regularly. The community response could easily be a picture of the modern gaming public: hype, requests for big-bucks collabs, criticisms, broken jokes about failures, or just making any sort of unrelated nonsense. Epic suggests a simple festive event, and the players hardly waste time turning it into a dozen different dozen conversations.
