Fortnite players will soon be crossing over to the Grid. If the leak is to be believed, TRON will reach Fortnite on October 7 and will come with at least one skin and two emotes. Such a list prompted endless discussion and rampant speculation within the community after the sighting of developments by the trustworthy leaker NotPaloleaks. One couldn’t have asked for better timing of this collaboration, as the theatre screening of the new TRON: Ares will be taking place on October 10.
What are we getting, practically? Very simply, leaked data reveals a skin reveal to all, along with two emotes, on the next day. But the real difficulty lies within the replies that followed. The players were already arguing exactly who would make the cut. M3ZMERUS was in fact begging his lightcycle be added as a glider, posting a slick picture of what it might look like. Honestly? That would be sick! Imagine just gliding into that battle royale on one of those iconic bikes.
The timing cannot possibly be a coincidence. The old B0ringDudeThing makes his statement: “movie tie-in with TRON: Ares? 100 per cent.” Now, do you really think Epic has never done so before just to create a cross-promotion hype? Smalltimegamin1 put it rather aptly: “Cant wait! Dropping right before the movie next week!”
Others yet weren’t celebrating. There were some comments that show the community is… divided. Typo_master_provided own take of frustration, saying, “Giving this pedo 2 emotes over Kpop demon hunters is crazy…” which is a wild sentence but hey, that’s Twitter for you. Meanwhile, MaDZaAc wouldn’t beat around the bush: “Again @Fortnite nobody gives a fuck give us chainsaw man.” The passion is real, folks.
All this noise is about the Jared Leto thing. Jared Leto stars in the new TRON movie, and several players made it very clear that they DON’T want him in their Fortnite. The pleas were simple: moi_py begged, “please dont be jared leto,” and NickWithANick took out an emoji and said, “If it’s Leto I’m out.” HiowWojtek, meanwhile, was joking about a “sweet Jared Leto trio” collection with his DCEU Joker and Morbius skins. That Morbius skin would be hilarious; it’s morbin time on the battle bus.
tOnic_pictures just kept thanking and blessing the leaker in repetition: “i hope you have a fantastic day,” “thank you for letting me know i really appreciate it.” Always nice to remind oneself who keeps calling all the way out there: die-hard fans ready to see this shake-out.
The skin isn’t really the real star in this hype. The players already started to picture the whole set. Back bling? Pickaxes? LostInSpace250 recommended they could get a light jet glider. The possibilities from a full neon-lit cosmetic set are endless. Tanuki jokes, “let’s just forget about the skin.. and take the other cosmetics,” which sometimes, honestly, are better anyways.
Then you’ve got the really personally invested. Blueberry 💙 wrote: “me and everyone else going to see it on Oct 10 and that has waited years for the collab again or literally a decade for anyone to even talk about Tron again.” Oof. For some, this is not just any other collab; this is the resurrection of a once-beloved franchise they thought was dead.
Uh-oh, what was I saying? Yeah, two emotes will be there. Disc battles? Light cycle dances? The sky’s the limit. The video-gamer community is already outraged for more emotes, as andydiaz103 was demanding, “WHEN IS THE GOLDEN EMOTES COMINGGG.” They never stop demanding; Epic can never win.
Feelings were obviously stirred by this collab. From pure hype to questions on the actor in question, the Fortnite community is never one big mass. But one thing sure is: on October 7, the island will be set in a far looser digitarium. For both die-hard TRON fans and just glowing cosmetics fans, that’s a date to plug in. The Grid is waiting.
So yeah, another day, another huge Fortnite leak. So, it’s the cycle. Some players are gonna complain. Others will buy the whole set as soon as they see it. And then the rest of us will just sit back and watch the chaos unfold. That is what makes the ecosystem of the game so amusingly fascinating. See you there on the battlegrounds, hopefully not as Jared Leto.
