The Halloween update of Fortnite wasn’t just an update; it was a complete overhaul, and it made the game to be the center of attention of all the players talking about the game in the forums and online. The social media channels of Fortnite have started to share a little bit about a new Nitemare Island that is coming and have tried to make the players feel that the place is not so bad with the question and an evil laugh “Do you like what we’ve done with the place?” – this has probably made the players to start talking about the game.
Players’ reactions have been nothing short of ecstatic. They are totally with it, and the vibe is positive all over. Kasper Frederik Christiansen has done an amazing job at spotting the exact feeling when he said, “I love it! It looks fantastic! So warm yet so scary haha. Good job! Getting that spook on even more than by being hunted.” That’s the whole mood – scary yet fun, which is the very hallmark of a Halloween event.
The latest claim is that Nitemare Island has experienced a breakup in Fortnite’s Reload mode and people are already talking about it being the crème de la crème of Fortnite maps ever! The feedback varies from “Best Reload maps till date” by Nanoboy33 to GerardoFZ who went as far as calling it “Best Reload map ever!” This is indeed a compliment seeing that over the years, Fortnite has come up with many maps.
So was it the map quality that made it so famous? Well, the combination of Halloween horrendous but not overly scary, the dusk of the same places but ghostly came up with the right recipe. The players’ favorites are Revenge Reels and Punishment Patch. Keify Christ even questioned Fortnite what POI was their favorite while these being considered “some of my favorite versions of their respective POIs ever!”
The community is constantly providing fantastic ideas because of course the gamers won’t ever run out of ideas. Play Family Gaming has already suggested very good: “Darker times needed to make it more challenging with player proximity footstep volume turned down, so people can creep & surprise in close combat, maybe fog patches too, so not so easy to see people at distances. Also, add a few pumpkin skull ghost bosses.” That actually sounds very cool – the addition of more atmospheric effects and boss fights would hopefully raise the scary factor.
And there have been some quite interesting… discussions in the replies. For instance mobiletyper discussing the case of the one player who “reload bot lobbies so long each day he loses sleep over it for levels” which, wait what was I saying? Oh right, the Halloween update. Some gamers are so committed to their grinding hence the very strong dedication level for some players.
Cosmetics requests are, as expected, pouring in along with gamers’ wants for skins. The wish list includes collabs with Ghostbusters, Sonic skins, Resident Evil coming back, and one person asking if Daft Punk could get in the game? That actually would be pretty wild. And a lot of people are wondering about Ghost Face loading screens and when will High Stakes drop? The Fortnite world never ceases to demand skins!
LuciLassie had a great idea: “Please give us an opportunity to explore these maps! It could be a new version of battle labs or just custom matchmaking for everyone, this map is so cool not to be able to explore it freely!” What a great idea! It would be nice to just walk around and appreciate all the spooky details without the risk of getting shot at.
Mandolango had a cute take, “I am very overly Christmas person but this is my favorite part of the year for Fortnite!” Which means a lot coming from such a Christmas enthusiast. And Wayne simply called it the “Best update in years” that is quite a high compliment.
Nostalgia surely is there alongside the Halloween cheer though. vincenzodraws is one of those sighing for Kado Thorne and asking for OG movement animations. But in general, the mood harmony is very positive. uivisuals expressed it nicely, “This is just amazing. Hats off to the team pumpkin” – see what I did there?
The artwork is being applauded very loudly as well, with Shadow Survival commenting “Absolutely ravishing artwork, your artists deserve a big hug!” And they are right – the visual team at Epic is always on the top with seasonal updates.
So, Fortnite’s Halloween update has all the right elements. The atmosphere is spooky but fun, the map design is great, and there is that perfect mixture of familiar and new that players keep coming back for. It’s apparent that a lot of care has been put into this by the developers, and the community is surely feeling the Halloween vibe. Just imagine if they added those Ghostbusters skins that everyone is asking for…
PlayStation and Xbox players are enjoying seasonal content across various games.
