Fortnite is again confirming its status at the very spot you thought they could never come up with another collaboration for the game. This time, it’s Ninjago, a series of Lego that has been around since antiquity, and the greatest surprise is that Lord Ras is one of the characters in the collab.

The announcement was made by two leakers, Loolo_WRLD and blortzen, who supported their statement with a picture that really got the whole community talking. It was a kind of moment where you go, “What? Ninjago in Fortnite?” but then you remember that this is the same game that allowed Family Guy and Marvel characters, so it should not be surprising at all.

Nevertheless, the gamers are really divided on this one. The reactions to the leak can be likened to a toss-up. Some people are wildly happy like the user, yeahIts4rk, who just yelled out, “LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOO” in capital letters as that’s apparently their excitement level. Meanwhile, some others are asking…who? User Racager_ simply asked “Who” in response to the Lord Ras announcement, which is somewhat funny but also points to the fact that not everyone has their Ninjago knowledge up to date.

Yet the real dispute is between the hardcore Ninjago fans and the ones who are following the newer stuff. There is so much chatter in the comments about whether the collab should feature characters from the original series or the reboot. User kami_imura was very clear about his/her preference, saying, “Nah, we need OG ninjago” while CynderFlo wrote “Yeeessss they are doing Dragons Rising. This is so much better than the crappy movie. OG Ninjago would have been great too.” So it’s pretty much like everyone has their opinion and they are not afraid to share it.

Interestingly, a lot of people are even mentioning specific villains they would have preferred instead. User StvBillw was like “I wanted moro, nadakhan, pythor or any other Villain of the old ones 😔” including the sad face emoji and everything. FishSells did not beat around the bush and just said “We wanted Pythor wtf is this” which is pretty straightforward. Nonetheless, there are also some advocates like BRHOM367 who replied with “Y’all don’t disrespect Ras because you don’t know him” and added a picture, so there are definitely some Lord Ras fans out there.

This entire situation has turned into a weird generational divide where the older fans who grew up with the original Ninjago are somewhat let down while the younger ones who like the new Dragons Rising season are thrilled. User That Drem Guy expressed it this way “I mean I tried but I just really didn’t enjoy it as much as I used to. I guess that’s partially just growing up but I guarantee MOST people that love Ninjago would’ve preferred the original show over the reboot.” Another person replied, “You haven’t even watched it,” which led to a full-blown debate on whether people are judging the new stuff without giving it a fair chance.

It is quite maddening that Lord Ras is not even a Ninjago character by origin—he is from Legends of Chima, which is another Lego series altogether. User ToastyRoastyBoy was the one who brought this up by saying “Never thought I’d live to see the day Ninjago gets a Fortnite collab with a Chima character as the villain 🥹” with that teary-eyed emoji. And Adamangus2006 termed it “Closest you gonna get to a Chima collab” which sounds plausible since Fortnite has never done anything with Chima.

This also adds to the intrigue surrounding the timing since user benny_ean has remarked that Lord Ras has “been relevant since 2023,” which is true, the character has indeed been part of the newer Ninjago content. Nevertheless, confusion persists—user matszukoo confessed “I didn’t know about him since I stopped watching after the prime empire season or whatever it was called” indicating how the fanbase has been split over the years.

However, it is pretty clear that Epic Games is taking the newer Ninjago material rather than going all nostalgia with the classic characters. And to be honest? That is probably the best option from a business perspective since they are attracting the current kids who are watching the show now. But, it does mean that the older fans have to wait a little longer, which is reflected throughout the comments with requests for characters like Garmadon or Pythor.

As for the collab—its details are still unknown regarding what will be included exactly. Skins are for sure, maybe some back bling or harvesting tools knowing Fortnite. But the very fact that it is happening at all is yet another instance of how Fortnite has turned into a massive crossover platform where literally, anything can happen. One day you are fighting as Peter Griffin, and the next you are a Ninjago character. It’s incredible.

Already some analysts have started to ponder which ninja suits version we will get. User QuakeNinja58 wrote, “There are many other dragons rising suits that they could wear” thus implying that there are numerous costume options from the newer seasons. On the other hand, the OG fans are probably supporting the classic designs that they remember from at least a decade ago.

It is just amazing how intense the debates get when it comes to Lego crossover. For instance, user GokuSolosGoofy was sharing images of other characters they would prefer instead and there were all these discussions about which era of Ninjago was the best. This takes me back to when Fortnite did the Dragon Ball collaboration and people got into heated arguments about which characters should have been included instead. Gamers are just that passionate about their childhood shows, what can I say.

Once again, it’s a collab for Fortnite’s ever-growing collection. Whether you are particularly thrilled about Lord Ras or just happy that Ninjago is in the game, it is happening. The leaks seem quite trustworthy, and with the community’s reaction already being so much, Epic Games will likely monitor how this goes very closely. Who knows, if this goes well we might get to see more Ninjago characters in the future—both from the new era and the classics. But for now, get ready for Lord Ras who will soon be entering the battle royale. PlayStation and Xbox gamers are also following the news closely.
