Fortnite gamers are almost on the verge of financial disaster as the next four item shops consist of the most wanted collabs that we haven’t seen for ages. Honestly, it could be one of those times when you reconsider your life choices again before actually clicking your way to the checkout.
So, what is it exactly? Let me put it in a nutshell. The first new hero is Art The Clown who is from the Terrifier movies and I can’t tell you more than this, the horror character list of Fortnite indeed has a very weird but acceptably good choice in this one. The second one is Huggy Wuggy from Poppy Playtime that gigantic blue horror-like creature who has somehow become a favorite creepy hugger and is no longer scary. And on the date of October 24th, Wednesday Addams will be available for free because even the Addams Family is keen on Battle Royale. Then, the very next day, on October 25th, REPO Semibot will be introduced and I think it could be a crypto or NFT thing because to be honest I’m still trying to get my head around that.
The response from the players has been nothing but… intense, to say the least. One player observed that “holyy unholy 🔥🔥🔥🔥” which in a way sums up the general atmosphere. Another user simply stated “WE ARE READY” with a fire emoji and to tell the truth, we are in the same boat. The excitement is very much alive, especially with Huggy Wuggy—one user exclaimed “Huggy Wuggy tomorrow let’s go!!!” along with a heap of festivity emojis.
But then again, the rollout of every new Fortnite skin brings along the discussion of controversies. Gamers are already paying a lot of attention to the Art The Clown skin, and one person remarked, “I wish the face was more accurate, the mouth paint off a lil, and they could’ve made bros eyes black just like the original movie but didn’t😭” Another one joked, “Imagine if it was another rights issue or sum 😂😭✌️” calling back to before when some character skins were changed due to licensing conflicts.
The Wednesday Addams skin is also a hot topic as for players the question is “How much for Wednesday?” It is obvious that these collaborations are going to be expensive, so let’s be realistic, players are not going to be impatiently waiting for the announcement of the price. Additionally, another user was pondering “When is Marigold coming?” revealing that even with all these new skins, players still want to know about the future ones.
Among the things that made the news the most is Fortnite’s blend of different types of collaborations. This week we have horror film icons, video game characters, classic TV/movie characters, and even crypto/NFT all meshed up together. If you think of it, it’s quite impressive – where else can you see a fight between Wednesday Addams and Huggy Wuggy with Art The Clown dancing in the background?
The addition of REPO Semibot, in particular, confused and at the same time intrigued the audience. One gamer was bluntly asking, “Free??,” which, let’s not deceive ourselves, is most likely not. Another one just remarked “the belly should be bigger,” to which sure then. There was even a post from someone that went, “naaahhh😭😭😂 tf is this,” which fairly sums up the opinion of many when it comes to some of Fortnite’s more abstract collabs.
On the flip side, there are other gamers who have already started looking beyond this week full of offers, wondering when the Zombie Footballers would come or speculating about the release of Marigold. It’s like we can’t even savor the present content without already asking for the next – such is the life of a Fortnite player, I guess.
Besides, the timing couldn’t be more perfect as Halloween is in the offing. Art The Clown and Huggy Wuggy are a perfect fit for the spooky season, whereas Wednesday Addams brings in the classic Halloween vibe. The REPO thing, in a way, also fits this theme if you look at it from a specific angle and consider it as a sort of robot monster scenario.
What is assured however is that Epic Games knows how to maintain interest among players. Just when you thought you might take a break from the game, they bring in four days of skins that are a must-see for everyone who wants to be aware of the item shop. And judging by the replies, people are obviously on it. One player referred to it as “one of my preferred collaborations we have had in years,” and that’s quite a compliment considering what a big number of collaborations Fortnite has had.
Thus, be on the lookout to use up some V-Bucks this week. Your collection will brim with horror stars, demonic themes from the childhood, dark royalty, and whatever in the world a Semibot is. But, I do hope you won’t hold me responsible when your bank balance starts looking a bit moody – I’m just a messenger here.
Notwithstanding, this is precisely the reason why Fortnite, after all this time, remains so trendy. They just keep us on our toes with their ingenious mixing, making everybody’s characters from totally opposite worlds and at the same time creating a bond. It is wild, it is costly, but it is never dull. And this week could be one of the most wild months yet.
For PlayStation and Xbox players, these new collaborations are particularly exciting additions to the game’s ever-expanding roster.
