Fortnite players woke up to some hot news today from leaker ShiinaBR in the form of a cryptic text about NEW ICON EMOTE and DC TAB to be hitting the item shop today. The tweet was simple: “NEW ICON EMOTE & DC TAB TONIGHT 🔥” with a link and it threw the community into hype but with so much confusion amidst the replies.
First things first: what really happened? The DC tab got reinserted into the shop. Meaning there are fresh Batman, Wonder Woman, and other DC Comics cosmetics up for grabs. Then came real drama: “that ‘new icon emote’ claim.” Players rushed to check the shop just to find… Catwoman. Just Catwoman. No emotes anywhere in sight. And yeah, the reactions, they were just awful.
One player, @zexfnrr, gave an utter blunt “soooo where’s the new icon emote at???”, and then @unknownrototo1 shot back with equal bluntness, “New emote my ass.” Ouch! Meanwhile, @Soulbound_TV said, “I don’t need it… but I’m absolutely buying it 😔 because FOMO in Fortnite is real and heavy.
The DC tab did have its points. Catwoman’s return sparked debates about which version of the Catwoman skin is the best (comic or movie? The eternal question), then there were hopeful voices like that of @Leozzarios, who floated a wish list for DC characters they want to see, including Zatanna (🔥🔥🔥), while others like @battlinhells begged for Bloodsport to return, and @J_snorlax just kept daily pleading for Shaq skins back for the 18th time. Priorities, people.
The emote drama survived from there. Some believed the “new icon emote” could be connected to Black Adam, especially with @MistaBrandoVA expressing a hope for his emote’s swift return. Others, like @2edgyneko, said: “not my black Adam. its og and it stays og.” Meanwhile, @lor3istFortnit3 began turning their attention to the FNAF “Stuck Inside” emote, indicating that the wish list of the Fortnite community is… unique, to say the least.
Then the crazies showed up—@snoopcoupe ditched the entire DC display because “battle bus SUV” was nowhere to be found and thus “went back to anime.”
The DC tab mostly fulfilled expectations, but the “new icon emote”? Never there—or at least it was a miscommunication. Either way, Fortniters now find themselves in a state of craving excitement dripping disappointment, mad-dash desperation yelling, “Take my V-Bucks.”
For the hopeful: @GomerKyle79 also threw out the possibility of “Fortnitemares, hopefully!” since Halloween skins will be dropping soon, so maybe keep that shop tab refreshing because you may be seeing the next proceedings of weird lane drop and a weird tease.
Bottom line: The Fortnite item shop rides the rollercoaster, and tonight’s ride… it was mad. DC fans feasted, emote hunters coped, and the rest of us just went with the flow. As always.
