Fortnite is now doing everything it can for Halloween, and this latest leak contains some really crazy information. It will probably make it into the game, as random as it was placing The Black Phone there about two years ago: the very phone of the grim kidnapper and his basement. It comes from the usually reliable FNBRintel and SpushFNBR; so one has to take it as fact.

There was a very quick and simple “BLACK PHONE x FORTNITE — THIS HALLOWEEN ✅,” posted on social media by which players were going really wild. Mixed reactions did ensue. Conversations are arising as people are totally baffled about the artistic choice. “Currently shaking my head. Who seriously wants to play as an elderly man in Fortnite? Wouldn’t you rather play as SPAWN?” was the take by someone who goes by the nickname alsimmonsfn.”

Such people seem to be having some sort of… moral dilemma. The character is actually a child kidnapper and murderer. Straight-up.” N_G_Genesis put it out there: “Child killer ok, Nazi bad,” which was a completely apt throwback to the whole Captain Price/WWII skin controversy from not too long ago. It’s a very weird line Fortnite is walking by bringing in truly terrifying horror icons. Another user, Adr74n, was explaining it to someone, claiming, “have you seen the movie? like im not exagerating, the character is deadass a pedophile dude😭.” So yeah, poking around that feeling that might be a little off for a game with really young average players, you know?

But this is just the beginning of what Fortnitemares, might bring. The replies on the leak are reading so much like other horror properties’ wish list. TJsMedias is dragging, “All this and STILL no Pennywise, I’m finna get irritated asf….” while LadyGagaFan04 hopes for a Wednesday Addams skin. MisekByc is already making his calls, saying “omfg next up will be conjuring, smile and exit 8 mark my words lmao”. At this pace, the Item Shop has to turn into the horror convention.

Some players are overwhelmed by the sheer amount of leaks. AngelSoldTop commented “they srsly need to slow down,” and you could feel the exhaustion oozing from those words. Hawkford811 is starting to feel the pinch, tweeting, “Dang, about to drop $100 this Fortnitemares.” That’s a vibe, ya’ll. Wallets are NOT going to be safe this time, not safe at all.

Others are just completely lost. kinkmajesty threw out what we were all thinking: “What tf am I looking at fam.” SirLuigi5528 was equally as lost, “the heck is this.” The very reaction. Makes no sense; if you haven’t seen “The Black Phone,” this leak is absolutely illogical. Not so much an everyday-name, you know, like Michael Myers, or Ghostface.

But that’s what Fortnite is doing these days-a cultural blender. One day you’re fighting off a banana; next, you’re sharing an emote with a horror movie villain who traps kids in a soundproof basement. That’s like really overwhelming. loshmii0 nailed-it “At this momet moment I think Epic will bring every possible horror to Fortnite😂.” They are not wrong. At this point, would anyone be surprised if the clown from Terrifier shows up? Actually, don’t do them a favor. User XrayTag already made that point, mentioning how Art the Clown “literally decapitated 2 children,” so probably best not to give Epic ideas.

The real question is… how far is too far? Fortnies has built its empire on being this fun, colorful, and slightly chaotic universe. But every new horror crossover sees another dip into genuine darkness. It is a tricky balance. Some players are totally into it and will probably main The Grabber as their new skin. Others are giving the entire thing a side-eye and questioning whether the game is still actually itself or maybe has found a new, much scary, one.

One thing is certain: This Halloween season is shaping up to be the spookiest ever in Fortnite. Whether that is good or bad depends on if you want to play as a child-murdering magician or not. So grab your V-Bucks because this horror train ain’t stopping for anyone. Your locker is about to get very scary indeed.
