Epic Games has just released this FNCS 2025 Global Championship Bundle, and the community reactions are… something else. The bundle contains the new Surf Witch skin, tied into Lyon as “THE” skin for him, Locked & Loaded radio tracks made by d4vddd, and the Axe of Champions 1.0 pickaxe. As Epic now seems to be trying to hype the competitive scene, gamers seem to be mocking it.
For starters, the reply section of the tweet announcing this Fortnite update is filled to brim with harsh comments, with many users calling the game dead. One would often see some users blatantly commenting “Dead game,” ay! As one keeps scrolling through the comments, it begins to feel like there are real issues going on in the community at this point.
Player @withemriott asks why half of their locker is gone, posting a screenshot of all the missing items. One of a few, actually: A great number of skins and V-Bucks seem to have been taken from some players by Epic, with whom those players otherwise had a legitimate transaction. In a voice that could mesh well into a sorry-plea-if-true kind of allegation, @ChetoCuh whispers, “Restore my vbucks that I bought and my skins that you took back! Literally less than a month ago!!”
That pinches into @CGarboid reviewing the state of Battle Royale calling them half lobby bots other half all hackers, and shames Epic. That hurts. And then, @halofreaked gets technical, reporting that “If you have loadout random turned ON, it turns itself OFF automatically as you load into a match,” saying “This one has been happening since Remix season and affects ALL systems.”
Meanwhile, @k0ntroversial is on day 657 of asking for a rotating mini map option. That’s like… for more than two years! Commitment or frustration? Maybe both.
The bundle got a bit of a positive response. @SHAUN19012 said, “It’s ok I’m gonna buy it today,” which is a little ray of positive sunshine amid the chaos. And apparently, @FortniteFNLK is giving away bundles, as seen in replies asking to be included.
Then there are the continued technical issues. @astralashton_ is coming close to being V-Bucks issues having just purchased them, and they’re alleging that Microsoft confirmed some sort of Epic Games outage is on. They’ve had their said-to-be arguments with other users as to whether the problem is on their end or Epic’s.
Random requests are also thrown around here and there, with @lankyisnotcool asking for skins for the show “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” @beantrailmix demanding “Release moss legends,” and @St4rszzvirus asking if Resident Evil skins are coming back next update.
The oddest one might be @ItsSprigatito claiming they should get the bundle for free because their last name is Lyons. Like… that’s not how this works? But hey, shoot your shot, I guess.
What is very clear, however, is that while Epic is on the push of the competitive content for the championships, the large chunk of players there seems to be dealing with what look like genuine technical issues and complaints about the game’s current state. Quite the juxtaposition, isn’t it? While this shiny new cosmetic bundle is being thrown out, the complete opposite chorus is in full blast, suing for lost items and gameplay issues.
But yeah, the FNCS bundle is pretty cool: The Surf Witch skin has huge surfing beach-magic energy, which is Fortnite through and through, with what looks like a really good-looking Axe of Champions to carry around. The jam track might be the best by d4vddd in all of Fortnite’s music collab history. I want to laugh at this new sting but with existing issues already causing anguish.
Currently, it is pure chaos when it comes to the Fortnite community. The new content drop should have been a glimmer of hope; instead, Epic’s social media is currently overrun with complaints about technical issues and missing items. Perhaps those should be fixed before pushing more paid content? Just tossing around some ideas from watching this complete mess unfold.
It should be needless to mention that the competitive scene remains important to Fortnite’s longevity. FNCS is their flagship esports event, and the Endgame Bundles help supplement the prize pools and everything. So I get why they are being shoved down people’s throats. But when your entire player base is going through locker items disappearing and gameplay bugs that have been tattooed into the annals of gaming history for months… maybe deal with that first?
But hey, that Surf Witch skin is pretty daggone nice. If they ever fix these shenanigans, I might even end up getting around to buying the bundle myself. For now? Just going to be watching from the sidelines. Classic Fortnite community moment, really.
