Incidentally, the thing that got everyone buzzing was the much-touted glow-up for Indian Fishstick skin-a Superman-degree-type glow-up. Now, you got that right. Starting TOMORROW, in Battle Royale, Fishstick shall be sharing supreme power with Man of Steel. Finally, somebody gave respect to that fish.
It was so straightforward from the official Fortnite Twitter accounts that they had to drop the hype trailer that is now fast on its way to going viral before you can say, “Kryptonite.” Fishstick, in the clip-swimming ridiculousness of a helmeted fish man-normally does just about anything to keep the chill vibes going-if it wanted to flex, this guy is going all out with the Superman cape, heat vision, and topless emblem. Oh, it’s hilarious; it’s beautiful; and it is pure essence of Fortnite.
Now, sit back and absorb these reactions through the very chaotic reply section. Creators are being complimented: Just listen to @Verlaxify saying, “These trailers just keep getting better and better 🔥.” Some others are totally meh. “@SHAUN19012: Why is it always Superman? We’ve had the second Superman in Fortnite—what about Supergirl?” I think that’s a very valid point. Then there’s @KyleRaynerCh going full famine mode into Fishstick exposure: “Can you please stop using Fishstick for every single trailer? You have thousands of skins. Use them!” Oof.
Then again, the drama is about demanding the other DC characters. @EduardoCor70363 begs for Nightwing, Red Hood, and Batgirl, and @BlueJustice97 fumes that Lex Luthor was snubbed: “Monumental mistake if you ask me! We’ve been overdue for a Lex skin for years!” Meanwhile, @clark_kent34450 (interestingly, that’s his handle) is trying to hype the guy behind the introduction of the Fortress of Solitude into Creative Mode. Priorities, people.
Deviating to the strange but snicker-inducing, some odd comments have gone through. @PhilledZone just wanted to know if this update will require a download (very legit question), while @SPM5_ whines, “Bring back Miku.” I think more is needless to be said.
So what does this translate to on the gameplay side? Well, from what we know, pretty vague. The leaks say that the Fishstick Superman powers include enhanced mobility (flight, maybe) and some sort of heat-vision. Whether it’s a full-on mythic or a limited-time event item, now, that’s still uncertain. One way or another, it’ll be insane.
Anyway, if nothing else, Fishstick didn’t die this time in the trailer. Thank you, @aryan15309, for pointing that out: “At least he didn’t die—he always dies in the trailers.” So true.
So set that reminder, set that alarm, start practicing your most excellent “velcro” pose-because tomorrow’s going to get way more super in the Fortnite Battle Royale.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve to determine how Fishstick, of all skins, is becoming the flagship face of all Fortnite crossovers. Helmet? The mushy blank stare? The fact that he’s just about a fish? The world might never know.
So, in conclusion: it’s Fishstick supremacy!
(Please, Epic, for the love of everything good, give us Lex Luthor.)
