As they’ve done many times before, Fortnite is going into collaborations and keeping the industry talking about it. This is not just a skin or a weapon wrap; they are discussing a Gorillaz emote for the track “Dare.” And honestly? The combination of both now is the fan reaction.
This rumor, of course, is out there because of leaks from BruceTheBlob and TimelessOrder, who came across some hints in the game files. So, basically, new dance emote in the Festival mode of Fortnite might be added to the rhythm side of the battle royale for “Dare” by Gorillaz. And anybody who knows anything about Gorillaz understands what a huge deal this is.
I can hardly restrain myself at the sight of these replies. One player, Squishy, even wrote, “Dare is in my top 3 fave gorillaz songs, so I’m very happy about this if true.” And same here- banger of a song! The other player, Leo, shared a gif of someone bouncing up and down and captioned it, “My grown ahhh jumping up and down at the announcement of this collab!!!” which is absolutely the vibe.
On the other hand, there are some people who still aren’t convinced. An excellent shout-out, mind you, goes to “No One’s Carss” for calling out the skepticism. This then, obviously, began to pique the debate regarding which Gorillaz track ought to have been picked. “I’m still getting it regardless I just think they should have 2 or instead had feel good inc, Clint Eastwood, or dirty Harry emote,” said Hunter Flint. Which, fair point, but good lord, “Dare” has those iconic dance moves that would translate so well into an emote.
Now speaking of dance moves, those are what the hype is all about. The player SillyBillyBoy shared a clip from the original music video with the hope that the emote would capture that same energy, while blockxs simply wrote, “Hope for the dance move,” which really should be the main goal. It has to be that very shuffle from the video.
However, this is far from the first wave of music collaboration Fortnite has seen. In all actuality, Festival mode has served as a platform for so many artists up to now, but Gorillaz? That’s an entirely different ball game. The aesthetics of this virtual band mesh flawlessly with the Fortnite vibe, and an emote focused on one of its songs would be so very clever. Like, I mean, why’d nobody think of this before now?
The timing is fantastic, though. This Gorillaz emote drop would get welcomed nice and warmly while Festival mode is still pretty fresh, especially by the kind of people who wouldn’t really bat an eye at Battle Royale but dig rhythm games, or simply love Gorillaz. Cleverly executed move, as usual, by Epic Games.
But imagine the potential here. If “Dare” gets in, then what? More Gorillaz emotes? Possibly a full band skin set featuring 2D, Murdoc, Noodle, and Russel? Players have gotten ahead of themselves speculating, with shade gh0st saying, “More Gorrillaz the better.” And honestly, yes. Give us all the Gorillaz goodness.
The hype is real, and the response from the community reveals how much the players want this. Comments like “YESSSS MOST WANTED GORILLAZ EMOTE” and fire emojis would all be testament to how popular this emote will be. Even the skeptics might get it once it drops. Because, honestly, who wouldn’t want to dance to “Dare” in the middle of a Fortnite match?
Regarding when it might drop and release, there’s nothing official yet. Epic Games adores delaying these things, so maybe they will drop some more hints in the coming weeks. Having said that, judging by the leaks, it sure seems like it is definitely a sure-thang. Keep an ear out for Festival mode updates, as it could drop any day.
Back at the bipod, players are already practicing “Dare” just in case. Another moment Fortnite is masterful at creating is ones that forever unite people, be that in a victory royale or two people dancing in the lobby. The Gorillaz emote? That is definitely one of those moments.
So yeah, get ready to press it on you—because Fortnite and Gorillaz might just be the collab we didn’t know we needed but absolutely deserve. And if it doesn’t happen? Well, there’s always next season’s leaks to get excited about. But for now, the hope is real, and the vibes are immaculate.
