So Fortnite had to just drop that utterly craziest Daft Punk Experience, and the million-dollar question is: is it real? The official Fortnite Twitter account talked about players joining “us on tour through the Daft Punk Experience” while locating themselves in Robot Rock Arena and Dream Chamber Studios, and so forth. They basically carved out the entire maddening Das Keyboardfellas of Daft Punk universe-well…wow!
The frenzy in the community was anything from pure hype to pure chaos; this is the standard beginning for any given Fortnite event. And some players have been going absolutely insane in the best way. RealHanibee said, “This is was Graphically and Visually amazing” with all the typos included, which pretty much captures what we felt. Meanwhile, Clippit π got sarcastically mad: “you bastards, I’ll be buying Alive 2007 thanks to you, I hope you’re happy >;(” I vibe with that.
But it still wouldn’t be a PlayStation event if along with the complaints, the usual requests weren’t mixed in. There are already requests for emotes – one from Sygnio_ to “one more time emote π” while others are demanding for it to be made permanent themselves. Excellent000 wants “Make prox chat permanent” whereas confsesu is demanding which… what even is delulu? I don’t know but they want it forever.
Now that the technical issues have cropped up-that is, well, when has Fortnite ever not been plagued with technical issues-Katoguri stated that one “can’t launch the game” even after deleting and reinstalling it, while nekozuki0518 was suddenly confronted by a “can’t jump off the Battle Bus” bug, which has existed since, like, chapter 1. I guess some things never change.
More interesting, though, was this split in public opinion about the rewards system. RorschachZERO was begging Epic not to make Twitch the only way (NOT Twitch [disgust emoji]) to earn these rewards because apparently, some of the Daft Punk stuff is locked as a Twitch drop? Yeah, that’ll definitely tick people off. Meanwhile, TIMELESSMIK3 is watching some influencer play the event and complaining that “no reward has,” possibly hinting that the rewards system is confusing or something.
And the random demands that literally have nothing to do with Daft Punk. Just_Zelden β€οΈβπ₯ gave an outright “We don’t care we want rumi,” while 7ringsYAri_ksa πΈπ¦ is offering $1000 if they bring back the Ariana Grande skin. SpareShadez wants Niko from OneShot for some reason, and w86ykp58cc pleads, “For the love of fucking Christ no more Marvel please,” which is honestlyually my mood.
The VR crowd is making some noise about it: futureVrking said, “I wish fortnite had a VR mode. The Daft punk concert would have been magical in Vr.” Then a debate erupted about whether Fortnite would be too much for VR, with Deadringer28 insisting that Sariento and Hellsweeper exist, so it clearly could.
Best may be Julius Don Atlas, claiming, “after this event I’m no longer stressed about WW3 or WW4;” at least concerning a video game event, that phrase is either the highest praise or… concerning? Maybe a little bit of both.
There do exist mixed narratives such as kai00kaci rating it as a “Mid-aah event.” Then, there are those that are overtly blown away. Given the fact that people are already putting out queries on when Fortnitemares or OG season 6 will be out, it is huge proof that even when doing something current, the Fortnite community always seems to have an eye for the next thing.
What seems apparent is that Epic is still pushing the envelope in terms of the boundaries of what a “game” really is by turning Fortnite into a musical experience platform far beyond just shooting people. It seems the Daft Punk collaboration is just that happy medium where the music integration feels fluid and the visual design is an extraordinary level in class. All the “usual suspects” whining and demanding mixed in, and the consensus is that this is yet another project to hang Fortnight’s proud hat on.
Whether it is the music, the awesome visuals, or just that perfect storm of chaos in the replies that draws you in, the Daft Punk Experience is one of the many reminders that Fortnite is no longer only a battle royale-it is now a complete cultural movement. That said, half of these people are probably just as surprised as to just how badly they will want another Ariana Grande skin.
