Epic Games did a great thing for Fortnite players. The Arcane Jinx and Arcane Vi are back in the item shop right now. The list of the best characters from the famous Netflix series Arcane that can be obtained again by those who missed the first drop includes these sisters; they are definitely among the top. This has been a fantastic turn of events for Collab lovers and those who play League of Legends who wish to run around the island in the skins of these characters.
However, do not rush to conclusions. How did the community respond? It was not an optimistic reaction at all. The skins’ return has delighted many living by the official Fortnite tweet replies that they were nothing but complaints about the game today. Players have not been shy at describing their dislike for gaming changes and are making it very clear.
Let’s try to do a brief summary. The finest part of it is the comeback of the Arcane skins. Jinx and Vi are in the shop right now. This move is very intelligent from Epic; it basically is the same continuation of the success brought by the Arcane show with a huge audience. It is a big win for the players loving the crossover because they can be the characters of Piltover and Zaun while they dodge bullets and build their way up to the top.
But still, reading the comments is like walking through a minefield with grievances all over. One of the most disputed topics is the new emote wheel which has now been set up, and gamers are making their displeasure heard very loudly. To be more precise, the new emote wheel has created a lot of anger among the players. The user ‘spacedud’ does not hold back on this and in a very sarcastic tone asks “what’s the point of having favorite emotes now? bring back the wheel.” Others like ‘Sir Edward’ are also sharing the same frustration, not only that he was literally asking how to turn it off, but ‘ElectricJaya’ was even begging Epic to undo the change branding it “slow and tedious.” I suppose it is the truth; the emote UI is a real bother, as it has turned the previously simple process into a confusing and frustrating one.
But that is not the only issue; there are a number of problems. Some players are reporting about extreme tech issues. ‘Meow.Jinx’ was one of the users who described the super lag condition of the game, besides that they also mentioned the bug where their character was “just standing sliding in place.” That must be really a very frustrating situation especially in a game where movements are so important. Another user, ‘Aquzi’ was already complaining that he was playing against “the biggest Sweats” in his very first matches of the day, and he was really wishing for a more bot-filled warm-up round instead.
Not to mention the specific requests and missed opportunities. User ‘Seiuncanegogo’ was very upset, he said that’s the last time he will ask why Epic didn’t add new styles to Vi and Jinx, especially referring to the purple eyes from the show as a “missed opportunity.” Thus some players still consider it could have been better even though the cool skin is back. Others are turning the skin announcement to their advantage to ask for future collaborations, with ‘Bolinha’ demanding a Chainsaw Man colab and ‘🦋’ supporting a Ben Solo skin from Star Wars.
The question is what is happening? On the one hand, there are the returning cosmetics that will make some players very happy. On the other hand, the community is presently in such a dark landscape due to the underlying issues that they can hardly even enjoy the fun part. From the non-functional emote wheel to lag and bugs, it appears like the main gameplay is suffering for some. It’s a classic case of “great new stuff, but please fix the game first.”
What does this mean? It means that even though Fortnite is still “jackpot” with its collaborations and content updates, the need for a smooth, player-friendly experience is of equal importance. The negative replies are a very loud and clear signal to Epic Games. Players are thankful for the new skins, but their main concern is the game being good to play again. The appearance of Arcane Jinx and Vi is nice but for many of the players it is emphasizing the frustration with the recent changes. It will be interesting to see whether Epic will soon respond to any of these complaints or whether the focus will still be solely on the next big item shop rotation. For now, the island is both an exciting and a frustrating place to be, which pretty much sums up the Fortnite experience, right?
