Fortnite leak ShiinaBR has pointed out the possibility of the skin of the Ice King from Adventure Time making its way into the game. The tweet with the words “Where’s Ice King?” and a sneaky emoji has stirred up a lot of speculation and people are even asking for characters like Gunter and Simon Petrikov to be introduced. This crossover is a part of the trend of Epic Games that involves embedding classic animated characters into the Fortnite universe which players have thoroughly enjoyed.
If you have not been following recent game news, Fortnite is the king of crossovers currently. The game has introduced Marvel, Star Wars, Dragon Ball Z and now… Adventure Time? Honestly, it was just a matter of time before Finn and Jake came, but… what about the Ice King? That is a power move and a weird, chaotic, enjoyable one at that.
The leak was from ShiinaBR, who is the one that everybody trusts concerning Fortnite leaks, and he posted a photo of what seemed to be the in-game news tab with a text that said “Where’s Ice King?- š”. There was no trailer, no announcement, just a wink. It was enough to make the replies spiral out of control immediately – and this is how you can tell it is A Big Deal.
Straight away players started to speculate and it just poured requests down. The biggest one? GUNTER. That is the case! The Ice King cannot have his little buddy the penguin absent. Ghostf4ce1 was saying, “Please tell me we get Gunter as a sidekick!!!” and honestly? So true. It would be the best back bling ever. Indeed, one person presented Gunter with a gold crown and said, “Real ice king” – a very valid argument.
However, the discussion on this subject became more and more intriguing. Not to mention the Ice King but people even want his human form. Do you remember Simon Petrikov? XL5000boi was literally crying, “PLEEEAAAASE let him have a Simon Petrikov style.” This would be so deep for the Adventure Time fans, like a legit piece of lore just chilling in your Fortnite locker. Ballonman Game was on the same page saying that a Simon style was “most likely.” Would that be a built-in emote where he puts on the crown and transforms? That would be absolutely cool.
And then there is the question of how he is making a comeback. Is he part of the rumored “Wave 2” of this crossover yet? Slymewizard had a galaxy-brain theory: “Ok NOW the best case scenario is that he doesnāt appear in the wave 2 lineup… Because that means there’s gonna be a wave 3 which MIGHT have Huntress Wizard.” Just see the kind of hopium that this kind of speculation brings to the community. One tease and we are already planning three waves of content. But hey, it could very well be!
Oh, yeah, and how he gets into the game. Some players were reminded of past events. PeacemakerFNU thought that, “He is going to be free complete some challenges to get him.” That would be great; a free skin is always a win. But others, like CynicalJay7, were mixed up, “but ice king was in season 7 battle pass.” They are talking about the original Ice King skin from Chapter 1 in Fortnite which was a different character. This is the Adventure Time Ice King who is also… well, he is the one who takes away princesses and sings silly songs. Totally different feeling.
And most importantly, it is not hype if there is no chaos. HeroicBlaze_ got very rude and instead suggested, “swear if itās the og s7 event but him, Iāll crash out.” Which in gamer talk means they would be very unhappy if it was just the same old event played out again. And Devil_might_cry guessed, “They are definitely gonna make the ice king event.” An in-game event? Perhaps with a snow biome change? That would be crazy but with Fortnite, you never know.
The entire atmosphere is electrifying since it is not just another skin. It is one of the favorite, strange, tender cartoons that have now taken residence in the largest game in the world. It is about doing the Whip with the Ice King or maybe hitting the griddy as Gunter. It is an indication of more Adventure Time that might come. Finn’s hat as a back bling? Jake as a wrap? The Lich as a boss? The possibilities are, as they say, algebraic.
This whole situation is a sign that the crossover policy of Fortnite is not only about selling skins, but it is also about creating a shared cultural playground. Gamers do not only want a character, they want the full experience, which is a sentiment often echoed in the PlayStation and Xbox communities as well.
