So, Fortnite is doing it again; that is another Squid Game collaboration coming out: the Frontman skin, by August 26th. Yes, you heard that correctly. That weird slanted-masked man on the show is now finally a skin, and honestly, I think this may have been one of the most cool crossover skins in a long time.
This came from one of the more reliable leakers, HYPEX, who just tweeted the date, and immediately an eerie tornado of hype and complaints blew through the community concerning why we are getting more Squid Game content in 2025. But it was mostly hype, definitely mostly hype.
One player outright said, “I fucking won”; whichever, I feel the same way. Another player said, “This may be my favorite skin to rock,” with fire emojis embellishing the text. The energy is real out here. Then you get on the other side with some saying, “Bro squid game AGAIN?💀🙏,” maybe fair criticisms but, come on; it’s the Frontman! The iconic mask! The suit! This is premium skin material right there.
The big question tossed up here should be about the mask-off style: Will we even get to see what the actor looks like? A player trolled the whole thing with: “I bet hes getting a mask off style too. With his actors likeness. 1800 vbucks bucks in these trying times,” which, honestly, sounds exactly right for Epic’s prices these days. But is it worth it? Probably yeah.
Then, of course, the drama of why are we just getting Guards and not the real main characters of the show. Somebody dropped that “there arent any of the actual characters bc the actors didnt give permission 💔”, which totally makes sense but still sucks. Like, imagine playing as Gi-hun or Sang-woo in Fortnite? That would have been insane. But apparently, the actors weren’t having it so we get the faceless guards instead. Which honestly? The Frontman is way cooler anyway so it’s a win in my book.
Some speculation is creeping in about what skins are next. One comment said, “and hyunju will he next yuppppppp,” which is like maybe? But probably not, since actor permissions, again, seem to be a thing. Then another one brought up that Squid Game is not really over because, “we getting like 10 different spinoffs in the next 7 to 8 years?” which honestly sounds suspiciously true with how Netflix milk their hits.
Now the weirdest part of this thread was this random exchange in Spanish, which Google translates as: “I don’t remember those 300 XDD,” then another response: “Well I do XD,” followed by “I love you Luis,” and “I love you too Aless,” which, like…what does that have to do with the Frontman skin? Absolutely nothing, but that’s Twitter for you. Always going off on a tangent.
One thing is for sure: Between this announcement and the 26th of August, the front skin is going to flood every Item Shop out there, and I am going to hop right onto that bandwagon because, somehow, I just cannot resist those legit collab skins, especially those just as cool as this one.
