The meteoric speed at which everything happened is truly remarkable. Epic Games had barely announced the Man of Steel entering Chapter 5, when they decided to reduce the maniac’s spawn rate from 100% to 50%. The community, in fact, wasn’t very pleased with this.

The change had been slipped into the hotfix shortly after the Man of Steel appeared, so needless to say, many missed it. Bruh, some players didn’t have an opportunity to even load into a game before the nerf hammer hit. The feeling for many was epitomised by one player, @Tch1Gl1: “WHY? Bro I didn’t even get a chance to play yet. The movie JUST released worldwide TODAY. Why wouldn’t you keep it at 100% for at least a few days?!”

They were not isolated. The air was filled with similar responses. @SuperNintention said, “Reduced after how long? I thought it’s only just been added? That lasted 5 minutes?” while @DapperDino2017 added, “Why? I haven’t even had a chance to use it yet.” The timing was… questionable to say the least.

Suddenly: why now? Some speculated that the early days of the mythic themselves were being balanced by Epic prior to it growing in strength. Others, such as @Pat_Scamander, however think Superman isn’t strong enough to begin with: “He’s not even that strong and only lasts 4 mins max in a 22-minute gameplay loop.”

At the same time, however, there were some who just wouldn’t lose their sleep over it. @K1llergam1ng, for one, told the whining to “chill out, touch some grass, get a job,” as “it’s just a game.” @Bobisnameofbob said: “If you don’t like the mythic, there are other game modes to play, so who cares?”

The backlash was very much real. Some players felt like Epic went in for the Undertaker’s Tombstone too soon while the hype still surrounded Superman’s addition. @IshaanPate80634 sort of blamed the sweats, saying, “It’s cause of the sweats—they ruin all the fun in Fortnite.”

While others were grounded in bewilderment. @colby62188397 asked, “Why lower it if it’s just gonna go back up?” To be fair, though, maybe Epic is just trying to test the waters here before they make any further decisions.

One thing is for sure: Fortnite players an-neh-va are ever devoid of having a voice with which to express themselves. Feelings of excitement, disappointment, or even pure bewilderment, the community always seems to have something to say. And seeing that the mythic of Superman had been changed in less than hours after its release, see, clearly Epic does not shy away from making fast changes, even if it is to invite some heavy criticism.

So, what next? Another spawn rate change? More buffs or nerfs for Superman? Time will tell. But for now, if someone had hopes of flying as the Last Son of Krypton every match… well, better consider this a coin toss.

In better news, that is peanuts compared to losing an entire Battle Pass, shoutout to @Gummybox567, who has tragically experienced that.

Well then, wish luck on that 50%, or maybe just play Blitz like @freshbiskit suggested. Either way, never a dull moment in Fortnite, that’s for sure.
