The much-awaited Season 4 update for Fortnite OG was released by Epic Games, and the fanbase is erupting with delight over the return of some iconic weapons. The Drum Gun, Dual Pistols, Bouncer, Stink Bombs, and Jetpacks have been put back into loot pools to squeeze out every bit of nostalgia possible from the golden-old days of Fortnite.
The announcement was followed by the official Fortnite Twitter account teasing, “Drum (Gun) roll please…” Then came the outpouring from the community; some were excited, some were asking for more changes, and only a few were glad to have their favorite weapon back in action.
Sorry, mate. The spotlight is being taken hostage by this Drum Gun. Imagine just wishing to be your enemy, and the player puts that majestic beast in display. This thing was a monster back then, and now it is back in its original form, whether more terrible or less, one would hold it in memory forever.” Another chilling voice narrated, “The Drum Gun is the weapon that scares me the most, and they put it in, and on top of that, the OG, which is even more terrifying.” You get it, right? Think current meta is all crazy? Just wait until you get that rapid brrrrt in your ear!
This means another return: the Dual Pistols and, honestly? Still underrated. One player said, “ppl talking about drum gun when dualies right there.” Good words. Dual Pistols were always a strong mid-range option, and now that they are back, prepare for some incredible plays.
And then Jetpack. Oh, man, Jetpack. Since this thing was last in rotation, the mobility in Fortnite has evolved a lot; hence it will be interesting to see how it holds up against newer movement mechanics. Not to mention the Bouncer and Stink Bomb- another couple of utility items capable of turning the tide of a good number of fights.
Unsurprisingly, some players are annoyed. Some are annoyed about the pace of the updates, one asking, “Is there like any reason at all that you didn’t do these unvaults weekly instead of making us wait a whole month?” Good question. Others want more content- returning skins or new emotes, anything! Someone even started a day-to-day campaign to have Tsuyu Asui from My Hero Academia added to the game. That is dedication.
There’s also #FixFortniteOG. Some players feel that the OG mode is not at the fullest potential, slow season rotations, and missing features. One tweet even called Reload mode “a hack fest,” noting that Epic isn’t doing enough about cheaters. Oof.
In the long run, this is a sore-happy moment for the nostalgic ones; whether it’s the return of a Drum Gun or simply the joy of seeing Jetpack back in action, Fortnite OG Season 4 will definitely promise wild times. But if I’m excused, I have a date with Dual Pistols. See you on the island.
