So like we’re supposedly getting another Fortnite OG season in 2027?? Yes, you read that correctly – 2027! That’s a crazy three years off, and the hype trains are already screaming from the leaks, at least.

Everything began with the very reliable ShiinaBR dropping the Mic with a tweet, “Fortnite OG: Nexus War is expected to start in January 2027,” and within minutes, lives were changed in the reply section. Players are already blocking 2027 in their calendars; I just… wow.

If you need a little memory refresh, Nexus War was that massive Marvel crossover in Chapter 2 season 4. You know, the one when we got cool Marvel skins of Iron Man and Thor and Wolverine and basically, the whole Avengers crew. And then it concluded with that insane Galactus event that broke the game for like one day? Yeah, that.

So now they are planning a return of these events during the regular OG season rotation. That makes sense, after all, seeing as the first OG season was a huge hit, it would only make sense for them to revisit some of these from time to time.

But… 2027? That’s just too far away! One wrote, “Only 2027 😭”, which is exactly how I feel. We gotta wait three years to even touch upon this? Though I would guess it gives everyone loads of time to save up for all those Marvel skins they missed on the first go-round.

Golden responses ensued. One feedback was, “So after season X we are going thru chapter 2? Confirmed?” which is a fair question to ask considering that the OG seasons seem to follow the original chapter progression. Another player states, “Bro chapter 2 Is not OG,” which is kind of fair, but then again, Chapter 2 is almost four years old.

Marvel fans are discussing which skins might return. One player stated, “Gotta wait two years for a new for a new Iron Man glider πŸ’€,” which is the mood. Another replied, “When is og ch2 s2 i need deadpool!!!” because everyone is holding out for their favorite Marvel character.

There’s quite a bit of confusion about the OG seasons timeline. One player posed the question, “So chap 8 season 1 is only 1 month long or what?”, which, for the record, is a very good question because if I remember correctly the original OG season was even a little bit shorter than a regular season. Another reply elaborated on that, going on to say that since OG seasons are shorter, the OG timeline might eventually overtake the main game timeline? An absolutely mind-blowing thing to think about.

Speculation about what might be included has begun. “Imagine they’re saving galactus for the nexus war og pass and that’s why we didn’t get him in the f4 collab few weeks ago 😭,” one player joked, “which honestly would not surprise me at all.” Epic really does love some long-term planning.

There are ideas being floated for any OG seasons that might come before this. Someone said, “I’ve heard we’re going to get another one before this, it will come out around spring next year and be the first Mini-Season of Chapter 7,” which means, if true, that lots more OG seasons are going to be squeezed in before 2027.

International fans are chiming in- one wild response in German read, “Travis Scott kommt im Shop 2028 also leider noch warten,” which translates to “Travis Scott is coming to the shop in 2028, so sadly more waiting.”

There have been ongoing debates as to whether Chapter 2 content even really counts as “OG” yet. For example, one player said, “If they do this right it should stop after chapter 3 because that won’t be ‘OG’ anymore,” which is kind of a fair point; at what point does something stop being nostalgia and start becoming… otl content?

The creatives, however, are considering those possibilities. “No bro, you`re not gonna be able to make galactus do party hips,” replied one. That’s the kinda content I come to Twitter for, to be honest.

Insane that Epic is planning content that far ahead! Like, we are actually talking about something that will not go live in the next three years, and people are already hyped for it. That’s just how much staying power Fortnite has, honestly.

The original Nexus War season was a landmark moment for Fortnite – it kind of proved that they could pull off these massive crossovers right, building compelling narrative around them. So bringing it back as an OG season makes perfect sense, even if it is so far away.

Questions about the map have also started coming, with one player asking, “On the Chapter 1 map?” Options are interesting because the original Nexus War went down on the Chapter 2 map. Would they just bring back the Chapter 2 map for this? Or basically drag all the Marvel stuff onto the Chapter 1 map? So many questions.

Merchandising possibilities- I cannot. Imagine those Marvel skins that everyone missed the first time around.

It is pretty hilarious how people rank their priorities. Some are hyped for story content; some are hyped for mere skins; some are hyped for meta evolution once the reworks of old weapons and items are away.

It may be a long wait, but that honestly is time spent looking forward to something. It is rare in the industry for a game to plan so far ahead. Even if 2027 feels like an eternity away right now.

Who knows what Fortnite will even look like by then? We would probably be somewhere around the tenth episode by then, maybe all playing in VR. But one thing I am very sure of, though- when Nexus War OG finally drops, the servers would burn to the ground while players try to get in.

So, I guess mark your calendars for January 2027? Really. I mean. If those leaks amass, we will be in for one colossal nostalgia trip. But excuse me; I need to start scheduling my gaming timetable for the next three years.
