The new rotation in the Fortnite Item Shop has truly split the community. Some players are glad about the Star Wars cosmetics returning while others bitterly complained about the Street Fighter skins still awaiting their even-longer anticipated return. Like, seriously, where’s Chun-Li already, Epic?
So tonight’s shop had the classic eight Star Wars skins tagged KyloReyBeskar, three items “In Space” themed, three End of-Line cosmetics (major Tron vibes here), six Battle Ready cosmetics, and four new Jam Tracks. Do you think that sounds like a pretty decent lineup? Think again: Street Fighter fans dumped salt and desperation with a lot of “WHERE’S STREET FIGHTER???” in the comments of iFireMonkey’s tweet announcing the shop update.
Tf… Tomorrow SF for sure then is what @Chun_Gief said, and @JimSerna1 made his feelings clear by saying, “Noone cares we want street fighter.” The frustration is very real, considering these folks have been waiting for more than 1,000 days as to when the Street Fighter skins would return. @Thepikagamer6 went even further by referring to that Kratos frustration, with his God of War skin disappearing never to return, with “we don’t want another kratos situation.”
Then again, there are comebacks. At least a couple of people are glad for the return of the Star Wars stuff, with @InfoCitizenry calling it, “Awesome 🤩” and @ObliviousCammy shouted out, “Another good day for og owners!ðŸ¤.” KyloReyBeskar, though, looks to be under the radar, as @mcfeathersgraw was asking amid confusion, “tf is KyloReyBeskar.”
The End of Line goodies have also been supported. “The Tron cosplayers returning tonight?” asked @Batman_2020, apparently appreciating the retro-futuristic aesthetic. And then, of course, there are the Jam Tracks, keeping the soundtrack for Fortnite ever-growing, though not many are interested in talking about those these days.
The real drama? Wave of Street Fighter hunger games in the replies. “Chun li remains in my locker 🤣😂,” flexed @jvstinrem, while @Chun_Gief revealed, “I just want Chun’s picaxe and Guile’s backbling 😂.” The pain is so real, especially with @sigilmane dramatically tweeting, “I’m ending my life tonight,” regarding the shop update. Like… same, but, uh, maybe calm down for a little?
Capturing this is how players are thinking about the future update of tomorrow’s shop. “Anything but Street fighter… Maybe tomorrow?” posed @KevinZa05493356, while hope springs eternal in the Fortnite community. And @bungie765 then speculated that it might be a licensing issue: “kratos is probably a Sony issue because they have a history of being super uptight with their IPs.” Could the same be true for Street Fighter?
IDOL—the for and loathed—will forever be the Fortnite item shop. Tonight was all about Star Wars, with the Street Fighter fans seething in rage. Maybe tomorrow will be theirs? Only time knows. But one thing is certain: whenever those fighting game skins return, the shop will go down because of everybody’s instant purchases. Until those days come, may the Force be with you… or, whatever.
Hey, at least we won’t be hearing complaints about the lack of Terminator skins tonight, right? Oh, actually, @Thegrinchh32 waited and added, “Should of added terminator at least nobody want this trash shop.” Never mind, you can’t please everyone. Such is life in the trenches of the Fortnite item shop.
