Fortnite players are surely being treated today to another spookiness of an event, as rumors have it that the keys will drop for the second time in a Halloween-related fashion.
Meanwhile, the gaming atmosphere is awash in anticipation about what this year’s Fortnitemares may hold, with players ranging from Ghostface collab to Scooby-Doo cowl.
What’s the gist, then? Renowned insider ShiinaBR merely typed in a very antiguated “MORE HALLOWEEN TEASERS EXPECTED TODAY 🔥,” even as the gaming community went haywire. Well, really, it was an explosion of casual players and hardcore fans alike who all took to the replies section to air their hopes and speculate about what may arrive into the item shop and battle pass.
The tastier it cannot get: we are right into the scary season, and the Fortnite is just putting it out all over again for Halloween. Last Halloween was ridiculous with the vampire hunters and pumpkin launchers, and getting onto the hearsay lists, if at all these rumors had anything. The digging for what’s next has increasingly become evident from responses to Shiina’s tweet.
Going down: The most wanted—Ghostface (Scream)—madness. Several players above were begging for the iconic horror character to finally make his Fortnite debut. Ghostf4ce1 cried, “Ghostface pleaseeee 🤞,” while several others were debating on which version of the character we might actually get-the drama spilled into the replies, too- Last_Uchiha_335 threw down the gauntlet against a particular incarnation, calling it “the worst ghostface out of all btw with a gooner fanbase.”
But Ghostface ain’t the only thing the players wish for. The Scooby-Doo gang seems to be the second most wanted collab, with PRNCSSKELLE screaming in all caps, “PLEASE. SCOOBY-DOO RELEASE DATE. CAUSE ION HAVE THE PATIENCE NO MORE.” The capitalization itself tells how seriously invested that person is in actually seeing Mystery Inc. on the island.
Returning skins are the hottest topics across players. Arcane skins based on the hit show on Netflix have been mentioned a lot: “IS IT TRUE THAT THEY ARE RETURNING ARCANE SKINS IN NOVEMBER?!!!” by Demicharnock and “Arcanes skins soon right (November 5)” from waitplayz. Considering how well-liked these skins were when they were initially released, I would not be surprised if Epic shocks everyone by bringing them back into rotation for all those who missed out the first time.
Yet, somewhat shadowing the joys of these teasers are a few worries. “no promotion/teasers/build up on socials great work!,” lamented prodromos61 in some form of irony in reference to Epic’s marketing for the update, while that statement was interrupted by GeorgeFarawayEN’s quite timely declaration- “This is the worst timing for losing my job. 🫠.”
Now back to the confusion. “what time do you think?” asked aidx3n, and Quentin posted, “Sorry for a strange question, but is it still true that the 2nd Halloween update will be released this Thursday?” The very lack of concrete communication from Epic on the matter is the cause for many of the players scrambling to hear news from the leaker pond such as ShiinaBR.
The debate spills in the replies with rumors for Demon Slayer collabs, Chainsaw Man possibilities (“Chainsaw man time” was suggested by oofsquares), and an Alan Wake comeback if one is to believe Markorder66. And user noctis_the cracked a couple of jokes referencing Devil May Cry because “all of you leakers saying ‘coming soon’ and have been saying that since last year”—which, fair, leakers don’t tend to be timely.
What has been made pretty clear, however, is that Fortnite players have some crazy insatiable appetite for Halloween content, and right now, that teaser is terribly overdue. The buildup lately of horror icons, anime collabs, and returning faves may just be the perfect storm for anticipation. User Mustashy_98 so accurately summed up this sentiment by saying, “my wallet hurts!”—something shared by many any time there is a new Fortnite cosmetic drop.
Even a little news freshly made by Epic Games will get the community slicing and dicing on every tweet that is flown in, every leaked piece of rumor. Whether Ghostface, Scooby-Doo, Doja Cat, or completely something else will get revealed, Fortnitemares 2024, of course, contains all the ingredients needed to promise an in-game Halloween experience like no other this year. Now it is just watching the seconds count down for these teasers to begin descending and see what Epic has chosen to throw at us this Halloween season. The gaming event is also available on PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
