Immediately Trump’s Epic Games reveal, the Fortnite competitive community all at once started discussing something unrelated. The Fortnite Global Championships 2025, which is the biggest Fortnite event for months, will be utilising the ZOWIE XL2566X+ monitors. With that, the Fortnite pros will be able to make use of the 360Hz refresh rate. That is some really impressive smoothness.
For now, let’s analyse the Fortnite scene itself, the player responses in general are… very odd.
The statement was made by the official Fortnite Competitive Twitter account and simultaneously, the replies began to scroll in. Of course, the majority of them were not in favor of the decision. There was this one pro player who very bluntly put, “Your game is optimized like total trash, somehow the frames literally just get worse every year even if you keep upgrading your pc to the best specs.” That is an accurate assessment.
Next, we have logic issues. Also said by another participant, “Those PC will not hit 360 while streaming lmao.” Like… yeah, that seems plausible. Fortnite at competitive settings? That’s sick but running it on streaming on competitive settings? That’s asking a lot from even the most high-end systems.
Then the entire discussion shifted to what sort of hardware would actually arrive for the event. As in “ryzen 7 9800x3d and rtx 4070 ti” as well as “14700K and a RTX 4080,” even “13700k” gets brought into the conversation. It is like everybody instantly turned into PC hardware experts guessing what could consistently run 360 frames.
This is the one that made me laugh: Some random guy just typed, “the reason i didn’t wanna qual.” So the monitor choice was the reason he didn’t even try to qualify. What stellar excuse making.
Also, the players getting the informed visas discussion?? Like one person asking SwizzY281 “u have your VISA ??” and someone else saying “Tell me youll get your visa plz” just proves the stunning amount of effort that goes in these global events apart from the fancy equipment.
And the server issues? Because 360Hz monitors would be unusable if the servers lag. “360hz and servers working like minecraft athernos server when there is more than 2 people online” one player said, which, honestly? Is pretty accurate.
Even the monitor selection received some criticism, with one person casually commenting “tn panel 😬” which, if you know anything about displays, does raise a legitimate concern about color accuracy and viewing angles.
While most people are making jokes and doubting it, this one player tagged PeterbotFN, writing “time to switch to 360 fps 👑,” showing that some competitors are looking forward to and preparing for the higher refresh rate.
What stands out to me is how this singular announcement triggered so many conversations, including hardware specs, visa issues, and server stability. It feels like the monitor selection is a symbolic representation of all the worries that players have in competitive Fortnite.
Someone pointed out in the replies that Fortnite Global Championships 2025 are planned for September 6-7, but that has not been confirmed. No matter when and where they are, at least we know the monitors that will be used.
The level of detail in which people think about these major tournaments is insane. Players worry about the game, the hardware, the internet, and even the travel. The monitor choice is just one small piece of a much larger puzzle.
Most of the players remain silent because amid all this chatter and the qualification process, they’d jump at the chance to be on those 360Hz monitors next year.
So, ZOWIE XL2566X+ is the official monitor along with 360Hz, which is welcome with open arms, but as always, the Fortnite community has opinions, so many of them.
