Fortnite players are going through a hard time due to the disappearing of their locker cosmetics, which in turn makes many of them unfit to use their favorite skins, emotes, and items. It has been said that Epic Games at least is aware of the situation and working on it; however, the whole Fortnite community has been left in a state of confusion and annoyance.

So, just picture it, you have entered Fortnite and are all excited to display your skin mix only to find out… nothing. Lockers are empty, presets are gone, and you want to throw all your V-Bucks into the sea. This is the current situation for the gamers and the outbursts are no different than what you might anticipate at this stage – complete disorder.

The main concern is that gamers have begun to complain that not only their items are actually totally invisible but that they cannot even see their skins in the locker. It is like they just vanished into thin air. One gamer by the name of tinscity said they managed to squeeze in a few rounds but their appearance did not change; yet they still did not have presets or favorites. They chose to sign out for the day with the hope that by morning, it would have been miraculously sorted out. It seems to be nothing but wishful thinking!

But wait, it is even worse than that. Others are saying that the issue is more than just not being able to see their items. ExtendedWings01 said “And it doesn’t save.” This means that even if for a brief moment, you can see your skins, the alterations you make might not be saved. That is tantamount to having the game suddenly deciding “lol nope” and resetting the hours you have spent working on getting your loadout just like that.

JinxViPowder69 is also among the locker UI critics and to express his frustration, he used all kinds of words to say that the current locker system is rubbish and he was really upset about having to navigate through so many subtabs just to get to one skin preset. He was not lying, though – the current system is indeed quite clunky compared to the previous versions.

Additionally, Axo_Lori vice suggests, “It’s messing with the emote locker as well,” meaning the problem is not just confined to skins and cosmetics. In a way, your entire digital persona in PlayStation is going through an existential crisis.

As for how the community is reacting, well, their reactions are quite interesting. Weeb323 has simply labeled it as a “bum ass game,” which is perhaps the most straightforward and articulate way to express one’s feelings when their favorite skins are gone. IceKnightK, on the other hand, took a more philosophical stance and termed it “A free game at its finest,” which honestly? Fair enough.

There is also some drama in the threads with disagreements popping up among players regarding the functioning and non-functioning of some features. A tiny squabble broke out between AirDrop_480 and DarwinDaG0at over whether access to Save the World mode was still allowed while the locker issue was ongoing. I mean, come on guys! Your precious cosmetics have disappeared and still, you are concerned about STW?

On the contrary, some players are experiencing a totally different situation. Tayrenee26 said “Mine is fine so far,” which must be the most annoying thing to hear when you encounter a bug. It is like a friend saying “Works on my machine” while the fire is literally burning your game.

The unfortunate timing of this issue may be one of the reasons why xdsuperbab2007 mentioned the end of Chapter 6 Season 4 in just a couple of days. Players are the ones that have to suffer in the end while trying to finish their battle passes and claiming the last few rewards, and on top of that, they can’t see what they have unlocked? This is really a bad experience being given to the players by the Fortnite gods.

Epic Games has not given a specific timeline for when the problem will be fixed, but taking into account the number of the reports, it is quite reasonable to presume that they are indeed actively working on it. I mean, they have to be, right? This is not about some minor visual glitch – this is about the entire digital wardrobe of the players being vaporized.

The thing that is really difficult to understand is that this incident could very well be the actual reason why cosmetics are so important in Fortnite. For many gamers it is not a question of gameplay anymore – being able to express one’s personality through skins, back blings and emotes is a major part of the fun. When that is taken away, the game feels incomplete.

Some players have reported that the search function in the locker is also not working properly. DKSonic195 complained that “you used to be able to type s1 to s17 no problem but recently that’s broken.” So, even if you DO have your cosmetics, Xbox players are also affected.
