The community of Fortnite players is going crazy over the big leaks about the new Chapter 7 Season 1 title named Pacific Break. The tweet from FireMonkey, who is one of the top leakers, has given the players a sneak peek to the possible new Battle Pass skins and the responses from the players are mixed. The upcoming season has certainly not been without issues with the allusions to Back to the Future as well as the complaints about the usual skin distribution being among the main points of the debate.
But what did FireMonkey first reveal to us? The leaked picture, which has been shared all over the internet, shows a set of eight new character skins. The diversity among them is extreme. One of them, however, seems to be strikingly similar to the character of Marty McFly from Back to the Future, and he even got the orange life jacket which is the most popular. Players could not stop mentioning it, and one commented “No seas tan crédulo Mcfly” while another one revealed his support by saying “That’s what I said. Marty McFly!”. The appearance of a DeLorean in the latest live event just about confirms the collaboration, which is very cool for all the 80s movie fans.
Wheras, on the other side of the coin, there are enthusiasts that are not as thrilled. The complaints about the gender ratio in Fortnite’s Battle Pass still come up in discussions, and some users are very vocal about it. A user didn’t mince his words when he wrote “Fortnite is always 1 girl skin that’s ugly and 8 male skins, like, could they make their battle passes worse.” Ouch. This is a common complaint when it comes to releases of skins – players keep asking for more female skins. Another user went further to ask “can they stop with animal skins?” meaning that there are some players who are not very keen on the more extravagant character designs.
The leaks have not only given rise to the above-mentioned complaints but also triggered a number of questions concerning which skins are for the Battle Pass and which could be the shop items or the Icons Series collaborations. Someone asked, “Are those last two Icons or Slurp?” while another asked, “Is this the pass?” It is clear that Epic has not clarified everything yet and is keeping players guessing. A knowledgeable leaker commented on that stating, “We still have OG pass skins, crew pack skin! music pack 2 skins and lego ninja skins!!” indicating that there is much more to come regarding Chapter 7 than what we have seen so far.
Also, there are still some doubts regarding the character’s identity. There are many voices on the community side asking “Who’s the gold icon skin?” and “Is that valeria?” without receiving a clear answer. The community is on a quest to unveil the characters’ identities from the little information available. In fact, some players even considered some old skin surveys that were never brought into the game and they were just wondering if this is how the new leaks are coming from Epic’s collections going back into the future. One user even commented, “these are from the survey a long time ago” which indeed demonstrates how Epic sometimes takes a long time to use the skin ideas.
The disappointment team is also operating at full capacity. Many users have made their displeasure known regarding the things that ARE NOT included in the pass. “No Luffy 🥀” was the cry of one One Piece fan, another lamented “Still no Nier Automata :((” – thus exposing that everyone has their dream collab which has not come true yet. Another user took it to the extreme by stating, “Not a single seven is already the worst season,” in reference to the popular Seven storyline characters that many expected to come back.
It is very interesting to see how divided the reactions are. Some users are totally ecstatic – “You do not know how unbelievably happy I am right now.” – while others reject the whole season just because of this early glimpse. Still, the matter of Back to the Future is definitely at the forefront of the discussion. With the DeLorean sightings in the past confirmed and what looks like a Marty McFly skin, the Seventh Chapter might be full of time travel, which, of course, would not be strange as the last chapter was all about the reality-warping chaos. One user even cracked that the skin looks like C-3PO which of course gives away a lot about how the quality of leaks influences our interpretations.
Just like any other season leak to Fortnite, one must keep in mind that concepts that have been revealed may not all make it to the final lineup. Epic Games has a reputation of experimenting with different ideas and sometimes even scrapping them at the last moment.
