So, y’know, if somehow you’ve been following news on Fortnite OG (which honestly I doubt anyone has), you’d already know: The Zapotron is making yet another comeback. Again because once probably wasn’t enough. Twice? How many times has this thing been brought back? I cannot keep track anymore.
It started when HYPEX, considered basically the god of Fortnite leaks, dropped it on Twitter. Just a simple tweet: “ZAPOTRON RETURNS TO FORTNITE OG TOMORROW,” followed by “AGAIN,” as if they were just as confused. The replies? Absolutely chaotic, as could be expected.
Until now, the fans are so freaking hyped. One exclaimed in all caps, NOW I HAVE A REASON TO PLAY THIS SHITASS GAME MODE. Another said, “Hypex can you Zap my Otron 😩😩😩,” which.. okay then. On the other hand are those calling it a dead game and saying Epic is desperately trying to get people to play it. The divide is for real.
Well, here’s the tea: Apparently, this zapotron is about to enter the game for the third time? From some replies, it was there in very early chapter 1 somewhere around Season 0 or 1, when it came back during OG Mode earlier this year, and now it’s back again. But someone else said the first time was an accident, and it was there for maybe only an hour? So does that even count? There is lore behind this one.
And reckon this. The official Fortnite account said that if their post got two likes, they’d bring it back. Two. Likes. And the post surpassed 3,500. So yeah, it’s happening. But, for the weekend only, so no attachments.
What even is the Zapotron, though? For those who don’t know (where the hell have you been?), it’s the legendary sniper rifle shooting electric energy blasts. It can be quickly tapped for quick shots or charged for a huge impact dealing 150 damage to players and 1000 damage to structures. Kinda broken stuff, which is probably why it got vaulted so quickly in the first place.
Timing…interesting. Another reply said Epic intends to fix a lot of OG problems in their next update, and then you get the unvaulting of a weapon that is already out-of-season? Really makes you think about their plan. Will it be buggy? For sure. It’s Fortnite, so something’s gotta be buggy.
The reactions are all over the place. Certain folks missed it the last time because they were busy and are now very excited to finally get it in their hands. The other lot is all like, “It’s available in Creative, who cares?” which is a valid opinion. But energy levels… chaotic. At least on Fortnite Twitter.
And the ongoing debate of “Was it even in OG season 5 actually?” Some dude just straight up said, “Yeah this gun was not in OG season 5. Dead game.” So, essentially, they are questioning the accuracy of the whole “OG” bit. Because it can never be that simple.
Therefore once more, it’s an insane act from Epic to keep people engaged with OG mode. Love it or hate it, at least people are talking. OG will be flooded with madmen trying to get their hands on this thing. A joyful presence or a riot? Time will tell but that alone will stir the pot this weekend.
So if you’re hopping onto Fortnite OG tomorrow, keep one eye on Zapotron. It might just zap your otron; don’t ask me what that means. Remember, it’s only here for the weekend, so get all the clips you can. Then don’t be too mad when charged shots from across the map are going to delete your existence. It’s all part of the fun, right?
