Ubisoft has dropped the A-bomb on For Honor-a free week is live! And seriously, that is all they needed to say. The tweet was short and meant to convey a straightforward message; however, the community took topics left and right for discussion, the condition of which ranged from protests over game balance issues to outright demands for cross-progression.
Free Week means exactly what it says. It is a chance for a newer player to jump into For Honor for free and feel the harshness of melee combat before committing to the experience. However, the excitement that some were feeling was soon challenged by thoughts.
Now one can keep in mind Mike Frank. The dude just put out there: “Im tired of getting jumped by ninjas and shinobis 😔. Mood, Mike. Absolute mood. Giving and getting ganks by those stealthy demons are hard to take. It is also a valid complaint. Then Matty M went Full-on-rant mode: “Y’all need to either give every character an unblockable or nerf Virtuosa.” Sleep doesn’t seem to be finding this person.
But balance was far from the only thing folks were talking about. The big elephant in the room? Cross-progression. Or rather, no cross-progression. Numerous players call Ubisoft out, with Nyamurai outright demanding, “Yeah, you need to tell us when Cross Progression is coming!” Then there is goodboyrooster (iconic name, really), who offers the coldest hot take: “No cross progression is insane in 2025.” I mean, it is true. It is kinda unorthodox to think in 2025 that a game this old still does not allow you to carry your progress across the different platforms.
You want to hear the passionate dissent? _PolskiPatriota put it out there: “Don’t waste your time with this bullshit game. For Honor is extremely unbalanced, has unstable servers, and both the devs and Ubisoft don’t give a shit.” Ouch. Tell us how you really feel. Meanwhile, O V E R L O R D had an entire business proposal: “Make it free and add cross progression; it will add more players than you expect.” Not wrong, actually. Free-to-play might well revive this game.
One cannot forget those random deep cuts, such as Judson Spencer Snow wondering, “What skin is that for Conqueror?” that unspooled into a big thread about gladiator helmets and bull ornaments. Classic For Honor fashion drama.
So, yeah, Free Week is cool, no doubt, but the players made one thing abundantly clear: they want SOME MORE. Balance fixes, cross-progression, and maybe For Honor 2 (shoutout to Szabó Bátor for the suggestion). Will Ubisoft listen? Well, who knows. But for now, if you’ve ever been curious about this crazy sword-fighting simulator, now’s your chance to try it for free. Just… avoid ninjas, Mike Frank wouldn’t recommend it.
