So, right Square Enix just dropped a massive character introduction thread for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, and the mass reactions are in an uproar. People actually genuinely got excited observing the usual Cloud Strife moody self talking about random political things that make no sense at all?? Let’s go ahead and dissect.

The main cast has appeared in the series posted by the official Final Fantasy VII Twitter account. Of course, it starts with Cloud: Ex-SOLDIER supposed to be working for the mercenary organization, Avalanche. It also emphasizes the fact that he does not really care about the plight of the planet; it’s just another job for him. Classic Cloud.

Aerith is next: a flower seller at the Sector 5 slums who can hear the voice of the planet and was watched by Shinra since childhood. For describing Red XIII, it would be a beast with flames coming out of its tail and claws, presently being a test subject of Hojo. And from there, Sephiroth gets to be grand and legendary with the SOLDIER honor that hallows suspiciously vague speculation on reports of his official death. And Yuffie, also from the Intermission DLC – cocky materia hunter ninja.

And then in the replies, oh, these are crazy times. There are the hype ones: @thebookofheru is just posting “Final Fantasy VII Cloud Strife 🫡🦾⚔️🔥,” pure hype energy. @CloudfanStrife calls him “Mr. Final Fantasy” with some gorgeous fanart. @Invincible_9997 insists Tifa should be Cloud’s “best nakama,” and that is cute.

And then you get some weird, off-track ones – @poquittop simply asks “woah who is this guy” like bro it’s Cloud Strife?? How do you not know?? And @shal0t is contending that they didn’t know these characters existed in Part 1 and 2 which… what game were they playing exactly?

But real chaos is unleashed by @iCloud_VII pitching in bizarre political commentary about ANTIFA and terrorism?? Apparently, Avalanche is ANTIFA propaganda, and Square Enix communities are “hotbeds of radical far-left extremism,” which is… a take. They even tag the White House account in the same breath, like that’ll do much. Meanwhile, @JU_JU_bee187 comments, “They are milking this shit at this point,” which okay, fair with respect to constant re-releases.

Yeah, there are also some gripes from PlayStation users themselves because @octaslasher2 is pissed that new content won’t get to PS5 if it ever does get to Xbox and Switch 2 and that they’re tired of being treated like crap after having to buy this game twice. @PatzPowerz is calling for a patch to the original version of Legacy for FF7R, and @Asoe_ describes the remake in Spanish as “terrible” and “horrible,” which is painful.

But amidst it all, the real fans keep it positive: @patricio_soler posts Tifa with “Best girl,” which is factual, @Excleassius suggests Jeffree Star for live-action Sephiroth which… no comment honestly, and @ProScitor drops some Latin quote from Virgil because why not.

It’s wild how such a simple character introduction thread turns into such a mixed bag of reactions. You have the hype train, the confused newcomers, the angry veterans, and then the out-of-the-blue political nonsense totally unrelated to Final Fantasy. Classic Twitter moment.

Interesting thing is that people are so passionate about this remake series. Whether they are for or against it, the feelings about this remake are very strong. Even after decades, character designs and personalities still connect with people, although players get frustrated about the method of release across numerous parts and platforms.

Through the noise, however, the core cast still holds giant timeliness—the reluctant hero vibe of Cloud, Aerith’s mysterious connection to the planet, sebiroth’s legendary status, yuffies energetic ninja antics. These characters exist today for a reason and are being presented to a new generation with fresh interpretations for the older fans.

They definitely got a point about platform exclusivity and added content though; as games get more fragmented over releases and systems, players are correct to wonder where it is that their loyalty gets rewarded. But the character themselves? They’re timeless. The reactions themselves show that much.
