The #GeForceSummer spotlight is on Ferocious Games as gamers try the survival FPS demo where mercenaries, dinosaurs, and some kind of mayhem roam a hazardous island. The buzz around the demo-a part of the NVIDIA Summer Showcase-has been positive for some, negative for others, while a good many wondered, “Can my PC even run this thing?”

Overall, the whole thing becomes your escape from a peril: being hunted down by homo sapiens, killers from prehistoric times, and weirdorridplants. Put simply: survival at its best. General reactions have been rather divided: some are simply ready and willing, like SH1SH9 who tweeted, “I’ll play this #GeForceSummer” without a second thought. Others, like CYTHARION, stand alone, saying it “still needs a lot of polish.”

From the drama point of view, AGONY accused developers of paying streamers to say they were playing the game as an advertisement better rejected by a backer-involved with the project-Rebelzize: “I can say that is BS.” A typical example of Twitter drama- mostly entertaining but never any good conclusion.

Performance issues have become the hottest talking points. “For stopping all the streaming issues, thank you, NVIDIA!” exclaimed one player. “The update they rolled out on the backend fixed my lag problems.” On the opposite side, or well, Oskar, “I cant with my 1030 GPU 🙁 #GeForceSummer.” Mood.

It was beyond horrible, in Ron Rezin’s words, and they felt 2005 for it. There was a mini-thread over whether 2005 was good for games (spoiler alert: nobody agreed).

On a calm-type level, Soniku Raharu confessed, “I don’t think I can handle it. I need bright, happy games.” Same. Sometimes you just want to dance away with Animal Crossing instead of getting munched on by the T-Rex.

Yet to be downloaded by the brave, the demo is still on the run from NVIDIA’s #GeForceSummer event. Whether it’s the next big thing or just utter madness, people talk about it. And in the gaming world, that’s half the battle.

So if you got the hardware (RIP GTX 1030 users), maybe give it a shot. Just watch out for those dinosaurs. And mercenaries. And whatever else Ferocious Games throws in for fun. Good luck. You’re going to need it.
