The very first poster for Fallout Season 2 was released, and gamers have already gone haywire. The premier series on Prime Video, based on the much-loved RPG series by Bethesda, is slated to return this December, and judging by all the online reactions, this season may seriously delve into the New Vegas lore that fans have been clamoring for.
The poster really doesn’t give much away except maybe some silhouette with the Lucky 38 casino sign shining in neon glory–if you’re familiar with Fallout that means heaven! Of course, being great reference to old-school players, it’s gonna create much buzz. New Vegas is probably the most beloved entry in the Series and that could well be the heavy hitter in this season. Going by the responses to the show’s announcement tweets, some are ecstatically happy, while others are preparing to be disappointed.
One user summed it up well in that, in reply to @FreddySweetmare, who yelled “NEW VEGAS WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO,” @a_drake3 responded with “they’re going to fucking ruin my sweet sweet baby New Vegas.” Half of the classic gamer twins are already here for the party, and the other half are sharpening their pitchforks.
What came next was paragraph after paragraph of exact quotations from several different user reviews, some of whom praised the show for marrying the silly, dark humor of the game and making it its own entity; some fand it took “many liberties with the lore.”
The classic discussion, then: how faithful should an adaptation be? @LiterallyWhoTho defended the show from such criticism, claiming it was neither a “regurgitation or reinterpretation” but was actually a “sequel to the most recent games.” However, @isaacDrey97 honestly admitted, “I really hated what they did with season one,” though he hopes the current season will improve upon it.
Necessarily, heated discussion has already been stirred by Fallout Season 2, and no trailers have been made public yet.
Even just teasing New Vegas keeps the fandom frothing at the mouth, with @AverageMWfan half-jokingly threatening, “if i dont see a real veteran ranger i will be sad.”
Expect: More mutants. Plus factions. Then of course, more Fallout weirdness. Season 1 introduces a one-off story set in the same universe, and Season 2 seems to be taking this a lot further—potentially towards an event from New Vegas, which depends on who you ask whether that’s good or bad.
Either way, December looks too far away. The wasteland is calling, and the gamers are ready to answer. Just… keep those pitchforks handy, yeah?
