Not long ago, the Fall Guys official account posted a festive picture depicting a cheerful holiday atmosphere where the small beans characters were having their feast at the dinner table. The message accompanying the picture was only a few words: ‘hope everyone’s having a great day!!’ Simple, right? A bit of holiday good will from one of the well-known video games’ end. Nevertheless, the replies, oh!… the replies were like a mirror reflecting the entire tale. It was like getting into a party where everybody has a smile on their face but each one keeps a complain form. The community shared less of holiday joy and more of its increasing discontent with the game that many users likened to being on ‘autopilot’ with no new content or communication.

The Fall Guys mushrooms featuring the festive image gave the audience the chance to ask some… exciting and curious questions. One user, @Kylesonlol, asked ‘How do Fall Guys beans taste?’ This question opened a whole new thread regarding the issue of cannibalism as another user, @makunijiiro, was claiming that ‘if they are eating cooked chicken fall guy does that make them cannibals.’ Another user, @PainfulGuy10, zoomed the beans in and shared a roasted chicken that strikingly looked like beans and wrote ‘EXCUSE ME’ along with the photo. In no time, the holiday feast became sinister with @littlebean_____ saying, ‘Bro is on the menu..’ and @beurresale_ commenting, ‘I’ll take two by the way.’ It was the kind of weird, humorous fan interaction that usually happened within gaming communities and ended up bonding the community.

Nevertheless, the humor was just the tip of the iceberg. Concentrate on the comment section and you will discover a very strong and serious feeling that had been raised. A significant chunk of the replies was not about the turkey or the decorations; they were direct criticisms of the current state of Epic Games‘ management of Fall Guys. Many users voiced their discontent with the lack of updates and support. @GeoLazer69420 put it very harshly: ‘Screw positive engagement you aren’t earning it right now, update the goddanged game, and actually, support it fing.’ @tique70 stated even more strongly that his/her/its dismal holiday cheer was completely dependent on the game: ‘I don’t bc I don’t have new content in your game.’

However, the most common belief seemed to be that the game and its social media are running on ‘autopilot.’ @lostloser1055 made a very blunt comment: ‘I’d comment but you’d have to pause Fortnite to read it. This post was probably on autopilot too. Yes, Santa brought me more pettiness for Christmas, exactly what I wanted.’ This mentioning the perception that Epic’s resources are divided up in other areas, such as Fortnite, and Fall Guys is being left in maintenance mode. @Kyian2023 echoed this, saying, ‘Happy Christmas but, if we can get the slightest information as to why we are on autopilot then we’ll be happy.’ Even those who were sending their best wishes, like @NanoLeon3000, added, ‘Thank you, but please give us communication. #SaveFallGuys.’

The hashtag #SaveFallGuys appeared more than once, signaling that this is not just a case of complaints being casual. It’s a unified sentiment of neglect. Gamers are asking for specific things, just like @ChrisWa20626773 who wanted, ‘Bring back x-treme squads,’ or @CoolT35 who pleaded for a response ‘about the future of the game.’ The common sentiment is that the festive post seems hollow without significant action behind it. @Jackjillz was straightforward: ‘No, we are not because you didn’t give us a Christmas Present and we wanted a Content.’

Despite the criticism in the comments, there was a short, almost dreamlike meta-discussion about the very art of it. @Opeyemi601 was curious as to whether the render was reused from previous years or was it brand new. A user going by the name of @grok (which, hey, is that the AI?) actually did some digging and replied, ‘It seems to be a completely new render designed for this year. I went through the past Fall Guys holiday posts from 2020-2024, and this particular dinner table scene doesn’t resemble any past images. Happy holidays!’ So they did create new art for the post which some might see as the effort, but for the majority of players, it just indicated the disconnect— resources devoted for a new image, but not for game updates or clear roadmaps. And then there’s the whole Mediatonic thing. The original developer, Mediatonic was also acquired by Epic Games.
