Mediatonic has made a formal announcement concerning the Solos Chill mode returning, and it’s definitely a little holiday surprise for the Fall Guys players. Solos Chill mode is the one that players were looking forward to the most as the gaming site is all about relaxing and having fun. This festive season is going to be with pale skins and calm rounds and, hopefully, a low heart rate. The official tweet probably hit the nail on the head when it talked of indie game development, and it also included a meditative emoji, and everything.

The Fall Guys community is in a great state right now with the announcement, players being really passionate about the game and the announcement bringing a flood of positive reactions. Surprisingly, it is a good example of how the players’ mood swings in accordance with the state of the game. A few players have really taken on the role of being the hype of this announcement. User P01210698P quips ‘Cute orange bean, let’s gooooo’ with a bunch of pink hearts. FGFB_Joao even sent Christmas greetings to the team behind Fall Guys. So, for sure, the seasonal gesture is one without love.

However, if you keep scrolling you will discover that the tone has shifted completely, almost like opening another tab. The announcement was at first a cool one; it opened the way for less cool and mellow demands and complaints to come out. Player, far from thanking for the mode, was actually using it as a megaphone for their grievances. It’s quite a lot actually.

A prominent theme that came up was the demand of the players for real new content. User HPhoenix10 replied to the thread with a sleeping GIF and said, ‘wake me up when there is new content so I can re-install this game plz’. The message is not that harsh. That feeling is shared by others. Tique70 went on to say that he just wants to ‘chill with content pls’. And Raekwon92155274 was even more straightforward, posting a GIF of a person look unimpressed along with the text ‘I don’t want to chill I want to be Xtreme Solo’. It’s quite evident that while the chill out playlist is a nice addition, a significant segment of the players’ community feels that they are starving for content. In summary, they are not looking for recycled playlists but new rounds instead.

To top it all, the community has also pointed out specific bugs that need to be fixed. Oh boy, the bug fixes! PainfulGuy10 went on a two-part rage. Initially, the user politely asked the developers to fix the round selection in main shows that include Wall Guys, Puzzle Path, Button Bashers, and Volleyfall, among others. In a later reply that was also a reply to themselves (a power move!), they loudly declared, ‘OH AND FIX BOUNCE PARTY HOOP COUNT (I swear it’s only happening in Ranked specify)’. The irritation is that intense and at the same time very specific. Another player, FFA_Bean, even mentioned a visual mistake in the announcement’s own render and asked, ‘What is that white line 😭’ with a circled screenshot attached. The community’s eye for detail is, as always, unmatched.

At the same time, there is this strange thing of… mystery? User CoolT35 and Jackjillz were trading a cryptic image, with CoolT35 asking the devs, ‘Can you guys explain this?’ It looks like some kind of in-game screenshot or asset that has them puzzled. This kind of detective work is typical for engaged communities but it also suggests that players are so deeply into the game that they are looking for anything even to ‘dissect’ because major news coming from the game feels slow.

And times bigger-picture pleas are no less. EGhostArtist_ made a nostalgic cry: ‘CAN WE GET 60 PEOPLE ON ONE SERVER BACK PLEASE! THIS GAME USED TO BE LIVELY IN 2022!!!’ That is a big demand. The shift to smaller lobbies has been a point of contention for quite a while now. Yocchanstweet made more structured appeal by tagging both Fall Guys and Mediatonic and Epic Games and asking them not to put the game ‘on autopilot.’ They affirmed their love for the unique rounds and bean physics, not just skins, and begged for regular new rounds or updates to the original client. Pikam22 cut to the chase: ‘Make solo chill a permanent mode.’

So what does this mean? The return of the Solos Chill is a lovely seasonal treat for the players. It is a very low-effort method to refresh the playlist rotation and to acknowledge the holidays at the same time. For some gamers, that is just enough—a adorable bean and an easy-going game is perfect for December. But for a lot of the hardcore fans who are quite loud and very present online, it is a reminder of the slow pace of updates, a sentiment often echoed by fans of other platforms like PlayStation and Xbox.
