From Software had to deliver some bad news to Elden Ring players: this Everdark Sovereign rendition of the Equilibrious Beast is set for the 14th of August, 2025, and it’s going to be nasty. The announcement tweet came across ominously, hinting at chaos with cryptic lines like “None may bear the balance but at cost” and “When the horned beast rises, chaos claims all.” Really, just an everyday Tuesday in the Lands Between.
The 143rd bay is set for 03:00 CEST, which means 18:00 PDT on the 13th for the night owls of the West and 10:00 JST for the eager risers of Japan. There aren’t any details as to what differentiates this version from the original Equilibrious Beast; however, considering FromSoft’s style, we may be talking of all kinds of nasty new moves, perhaps even a third phase that would make Malenia look like a tutorial enemy, and screaming.
The thoughts of the populace were split-some were eager, and others were sweating profusely. ROFLguard admitted to being “really morbidly curious what he’s gonna do now,” while Wasatch flatly questioned why FromSoft was reskinning bosses instead of making new ones: “They all have new movesets, so why not spend those resources on creating new bosses?” Valid, but come on: FromSoftware. They could reskin a Tree Sentinel 50 ways, and we would be throwing ourselves at it like moths to a bonfire.
Then, there was the very debate about whether this boss even did have phases. Mirby and Lord of the Bears exchanged opinions on whether Equilibrious Beast originally had phase 2, with Mirby insisting, “I am pretty sure Libra doesn’t have phase 2, or at least not like the others.” Meanwhile, Daeros ⚜ is already forecasting doom: “His phase 3 is going to be hell on earth, I can’t wait.”
Some don’t see the good side. Andu just hates this boss. She tweeted, “Every piece of me hates this goat….” Meanwhile, Lazarus the Adventurer exclaimed: “The time to uninstall the game is here. I am too old for this shit.”
But the real ones? They’re ready. While DDC_Calgary called it the “GOAT of all goats”, Psychoscope uploaded a meme of the boys refusing to make a deal—most likely in reference to the lore-heavy choices Elden Ring loves to throw our way.
So what’s ever going on with the Everdark Sovereign? It’s a mystery for the time being, but the name alone has it on the verge of being dark, hard, and dripping with some cosmic horror syndrome that will bring about serious doubts on decisions in life.
Mark that calendar, Tarnished. August 14 shall see a massacre. And if you thought the base game was a challenge? Hold on to your belts; FromSoftware is far from done with us.
(Side note: Somebody, please seriously consider looking FornaTRON’s way, who tweeted, “The diarrhea is setting in at the thought of how stressful this boss will be…” Relatable.)
