The patch 1.01.3 for Elden Ring: Nightreign, recently issued by From Software, has, per se, been welcomed for fixes, patches, and aggravations; the user population is otherwise split on several issues. Probably the most highlighted aspect has been the easier method to obtain Madness weapons, a change that players have wanted ever since launch. But there are still glaring problems that the patch did not solve, very openly protested by the player base.
For the best stuff: Madness weapons formerly obtainable via extremely rare drops can now be obtained by a variety of methods. This really makes a difference for players that have been grinding almost endlessly to get Vyke’s Spear or the Frenzy Flame Seal. One player joked, @ShitcoinLad: “I’m going to beat the shit out of the goat today,” referring to the tough enemy associated with some of those drops. Another, @arip_amet, was rejoicing for no longer having to farm with a specific build.
Maybe the Madness weapons will be fixed; however, some of our bigger gripes remain untouched. To the players, the Shifting Earth events—random map-altering incidents—are just too few and far between. @redslayerknows vented, “Forty plus hours I’ve had one of my own shifting events, that’s ridiculous.” Others, like @Kevin35489091, suggested that they be more dynamic, cover larger portions of the map, or even add entirely new locations.
Now for some communication issues, or rather, the lack thereof. Voice or text chat remains absent from the Nightreign multiplayer component, and patience is running thin. “@199_kyo demanded, “We want voice chat 😑,” whilst @randomerdamien proposed we just leave in-game notes.” Not that co-op is ever going to be anything but chaotic, but, understandable, players are now eager to seek out some kind of communication.
And then bosses, another sore subject. Some of the players like @Ultim_Archangel tipped their hat to grievances against certain enemies (Darkdrift Knight and Equilibrious Beast) and called them “obnoxious” compared with the old Soulsborne-style challenges. Meanwhile, the people are still expecting some proper “enhanced” boss variants, with @FilaDavis_ expressing disappointment that the patch didn’t include them.
The pre-order bonus gave rise to further drama. The pre-order bonus was put down by @SinwalkerMedia: “What about the Pre-Order bonus gesture? Come on guys.” It’s a small thing, but it’s a stinging blow for a collector to miss any piece of content.
So yes, while 1.01.3 fixed some bugs and made Madness weapons less of an issue to farm for, according to Nightreign players, there is still a whole laundry list of demands. Ranging from better event frequency to some quality-of-life changes (such as displaying weapon types without input; that was one from @xlRadioactivex), and the players want the next patch to accomplish more than merely a series of incremental fixes.
Anyway, the goat is going to be beaten to a bloody pulp for a lot more now!
