So Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have just released the Nightreign Elden Ring official soundtrack onto every major streaming platform. That soundtrack—the one playing while you’re senselessly fighting bosses in the encroaching dark—is now available for purchase for independent listening pleasure. The announcement originated from the official ELDENRING Twitter account, using ominous words arrayed like poetry (“a lament for a world undone”) in-brand for this franchise.

If anything, there is indeed a catch—the release itself is awesome on paper; the replying tweets, however, are an entire mood. That is not necessarily a good one. There was an air of frustration. Split the scene.

Opposite to what some might think, the music has been greeted well. One user called Funkeda stated, “Honey for my ears.” Another user, MemeZ, states he is replaying the “ghosters’ theme” endlessly. The soundtrack is definitely doing its job. And then come the complaints. So many.

Roman Beňo goes in and states that disconnection issues and loss of progress “totally ruined” the game. As if the late arrival of the new boss after killing the main boss weren’t confusing and frustrating just for me. I mean come on Man? You just have to beat the thing; you shouldn’t get a surprise for round two.

Then there is this whole drama on the reward system. KayJay! straight-up asked for “real rewards” and stated the game was the least rewarding of all the Souls games. He says in a reply that those rewards could be “unique cosmetic skins for characters or weapon changes” that are used to show off their achievement of reaching depth level 5. Parkr! ⚜️ asked what they proposed, and KayJay! compared it to “ranked play” where you only level up for performance and it’s like all that effort is for nothing. Oof.

DLC delays are one massive sore spot. YouAreWrongOk complains about the DLC taking forever to drop, warning that “no one is going to care anymore” if it ain’t quick enough. But SpaceKaden1506 stepped back and counter-argued that since launch, we’ve had so many updates: seven new boss phases, the new mode for veterans with relics and passives, bug fixes; support has been plenty. But still, the impatience is real, with BetoncuBerat outright asking if the DLC was delayed.

Crossplay desires surfaced, with avs0xff asking that players on all platforms be allowed to play together and add crossplay to the wishlist. Hopes for Elden Ring 2, naturally, are eternal as ThePolarFox squeaked for a sequel with “real story and exploration,” with Finn having to clarify that Nightreign was never meant to be ER2. There were a couple of Arabic tweets translated-one from يــوســف basically saying “don’t tweet unless there’s something new,” which is a mood, and another from Manal_972 saying “God willing, part two,” fleshing out the hype globally.

Then Abdulrahman Δ appeared, with the inexplicable statement that Nightreign is “better than DS3.” Ok then.

So what does that tell us? The new Elden Ring Nightreign soundtrack is now out, and By-God! it must be epic for FromSoftware’s music always is. Now the community is loud about their issues: connecting problems; unsatisfying rewards; DLC delayed; wanting more, whether in the form of crossplay or sequel, is a cocktail of appreciation and frustration, pretty much the way hardcore communities behind video games go.

Feels like the soundtrack release was a nice little giveaway to the fans; many, however, are clearly thirsting for some truly meaningful updates and patches. Will Bandai Namco and FromSoftware address the matter? Until then, just enjoy the music from Nightreign while you contemplate fighting through your next go at Depth Level 5. Or kick back, chill to the soundtrack, and forget about grinding for a while. Well, it’s already on all streaming platforms, so go forth and check it out anytime you want some atmospheric background music for your daily life struggles. Or relive those boss fights minus any actual pain on your PlayStation or Xbox.
