Variety reported EA as being “pretty motivated” to produce the Apex Legends movie or television series. While the talks seem to suggest some light at the end of the tunnel for viewership of Wraith, Bangalore, and the entirety of the Apex Legends games, reactions from player-base have been just about anything.

Let’s dissect the statement first. According to EA, there is plenty of lore, character background, and sci-fi worldbuilding that would lend themselves beautifully to cinema. So yes, if done right, an animated series like Arcane, or an expensive live-action series, would be very cool. But here’s the rub: A HUGE amount of gamers are simply not sold on the idea.

As you scroll through the replies, you will see an often-mentioned theme: everyone is demanding Titanfall 3. One player puts it super well: “Bruhhh. Just make Titanfall 3 😭😭” Another says, “To hell with Apex Legends, we should have TitanFall 3.” And they have a point. The Titanfall Universe is already packed with lore, mechs, and a military sci-fi vibe that could go very beautifully in a movie or a show. Instead, EA is pursuing Apex, a game that on its own merits really can’t hold up with the jury split; meanwhile, the masses are screaming for a single-player campaign before any Hollywood adaptations.

Adding fuel to this fire is the large-scale skepticism on whether it would be done well even if in fact it were to get made. Ones are scared that it may turn out to be another one of those forever-forgotten critical lyings profiting from the name of a video game. “90% chance for waste of money, 7% chance for higher waste of money, 3% brilliant move,” one user quipped. Ouch. There were others who said, well, not every game adaptation is destined to be Arcane, and EA certainly doesn’t have great history with telling stories outside of games.

That said, not everyone is against this game-to-screen idea. Some fans appear to be rather excited about the animated option: “Apex’s lore is WILD, and the character backstories are legit compelling,” one Twitter user wrote. “Imagine a high-octane series blending action and sci-fi drama.” And yeah, if they nail the tone—leaning into the darker aspects of Revenant’s story or Wraith’s interdimensional struggles—it could be something special.

Still, the key question to be answered will be: live-action or animation? According to players, it certainly looks like animation is the way to go: “Animation series would go 10x harder.” Live-action adaptations of games have been… a rough road, to say the least. But, well, if they take the Arcane way—beautiful animation and compelling storytelling—then there might just be a chance.

Anyhow, Apex obviously would be ripe to cash in by EA by any means other than skins and battle passes. The question in how players would receive this still stands, but one thing is becoming clear: If they mess this one up, backlash is guaranteed, and even more so if they don’t announce Titanfall 3 soon.

Now, back to this “pretty motivated” thing said of EA. But gamers? Not really. At least till Respawn finally serves up the thing we really want. cough Titanfall 3 cough.
