And now, a new patch has been rolled out for Season 2 by EA SPORTS F1, and players are getting yet another patch of anticipation. Fresh Sprint Race-theme events for Scenario Events, new customization rewards, and the first Driver Ratings update on July 24 constitute the patch; meanwhile, some gamers are thrilled about it, while others… there is no saying what they really felt.
Such headline Sprint Race scenarios allow players to participate in fast short-format races simulating the real F1 Sprint weekends. This is something the purists have thoroughly appreciated; after all, this is virtual racing carrying the same level of intensity as real racing! New customization options join the admirable list of content worth grinding for-If you care about such things.
Interestingly, the patch did not garner favor from everyone. One player, @lstreit23, flatly declared it “trash”; then @frwncy tears into the podium pass, asking for more generic liveries without sponsors. Then there is the @AlexF1BCL, waiting for EA to sort out the infamous Bahrain Turn 4 curb that launches cars if you go wide on it. Isn’t it just the classic F1 physics?
Simultaneously, some pleading for other things: @HeelSonne and @doug_stj seem to ask for the APXGP team pack back with MyTeam mode, while @George_Taylor94 is rallying for Ferrari to have their non-alcoholic “ITALIA 0.0%” livery in-game. Apparently, beer sponsors are still a legal headache in racing games, according to @wicherek112. EA can’t just slap them in without bumping up the age rating.
Here comes the usual “EA-account-are-you-serious” moment — @rockandrollov3r can’t even get in because their old email is locked, and the EA-support is… well, EA.
But then there were those who stood up for the minute: @zengames44 deemed it “amazing,” and @imorganmarshall is ready to “rev up the competition.” The changes to Driver Ratings, though, would throw a wrench into career mode, with @1v1Speedzy74700 threatening to riot if Charles Leclerc loses any ratings for the gain of Lando Norris.
Basically, caught up in the usual F1-community ruckus. With Season 2, EA keeps coming down hard; the question is… will it be enough to turn the dissenters? Well… we’ll have to wait to see once they lay some rubber on July 24.
