The time has finally come for EA Sports College Football 25, or how the gospel goes regarding the entire affair. But is it so? Or is it just another tired old football game with a new paint job? Let’s go ahead and sit well on that before you end up with a weekend shouting to the pixelated screen over a pixelated touchdown.
Ahh months ago, the hype train left the station but now that the game is really at the people’s disposal… It actually receives mixed reception. Some folks are mad, like @NikMdt saying that it is “dope.” On the other hand, you have @mmdman886, bursting that bubble with statements like “This is the same old football game as for the last 15 years, with much worse bugs and same visuals since 2015.” Ouch.
And, honestly? They are right. Year after year, going through the same game mechanics, pasting on just a new set of rosters, and they’re finished. @donnynutz said it perfectly: “Was so hyped for this months ago but , it plays so horrible sadly.” So, why do we keep signing on for this?
Then comes that whole “this isn’t even real football” argument, because, yeah, @master095_ had to remind everybody, “This is American Football, not Football.” Fair enough, but do not take off-topic disarray-that is about whether it is worth the time or not, not what you call it.
Guess an online play ends up having another painful sore. And @Rick330Rick was right to underscore how ridiculous it is to be made to play team-specific playbooks forcing players under one team, memorize the plays. That is not fun; it is homework. And @simpl_b6 called the game “a brick,” which, yikes. Not exactly a glowing review.
Now everyone doesn’t seem to be down in the dumps: “Basically but it’s still fun lol,” @Ghost_Evo admitted. So, maybe it is fine if what you want is dumb football? But, if you were hoping for some next-level innovation, @unclefoodgames advised: “EA just needs to rerelease College Football 14.”
The elephant in the room: microtransactions. No one yet mentions them, of course, but come on-it’s EA. You know they’re lurking somewhere in that game, waiting to suck your wallet dry over a shiny player card or whatever.
If you are a true college football fan, you will buy it. If you are still undecided, maybe wait for it to go on sale. Or just drag that NCAA Football 14 game from the attic-there will be less disappointment that way.
Oh, and @Billthehill634? We hear you: “Bro we much rather have The Show 25.” Maybe next year, buddy. Maybe next year.
