Techland dropped Hotfix 1.2.1 on Consoles, and almost immediately following this, players supposed to be granted the Burning Wolf Axe or the APEX Car Skin should find those rewards right in their stash. No more fixes in the cloud; it’s in the bag. It’s very cool if you had been grinding for it.

So, what exactly are these rewards? According to player RawbisWAR, the Burning Wolf Axe looks “fire ๐Ÿ˜,” so fo’ sho’ that’s a dope melee weapon. The APEX Car Skin is presumably a new paint job or some modifications for your car driving the Zombie-ridden streets. You never say no to freebies, especially when all you had to do was play the game anyway.

You know how it goes, though. Everybody starts talking about other things all over again anyway following an update. It’s like, hey, here’s your reward, but players are ‘cool thanks BUT WHAT ABOUT…’. And that list of ‘but what about’ is really long, man. Really really long.

Immediately they jump on New Game Plus. Literally, the second reply hopes for “new game plus+ and legendary levels in a future update” from shawn marshall. And Corey simply goes on and asks “New game plus at some point ? ๐Ÿ‘€” Thus, a pretty clear indication of a desire from the community. It has become almost a standard feature where you go through the story once more with your fully upgraded skills and weapons, so you can’t really blame them for asking.

Using the favorite “But di wei Legacy Outfit” as a segue. This one seems to be a mess. Serge ๐ŸŽฎ says the “silence about the Legacy Outfit” is loud, explaining that when the game launched, the website to claim it was offline. And now, it’s not even showing up. The Techland Twitter account potentially responded about this to a few people, saying “Legacy Outfit will be aviable soon” and “We’ll share more info on it soon ๐Ÿ˜‰”. So it’s coming, but players are sorely impatient, rightfully awaiting it, if it was promised and delivered late.

And then there’s always technical stuff. Because there’s always technical stuff. DarthRalston indicates that his game “keeps crashing on 3k pc please fix.” Techland support actually jumped in with a direct email for him to contact which is a pretty solid move. And Lonewolf reports the update “absolutely broke co op,” stating that they can’t be in a game with a friend for more than five minutes. Oof, huge problem for a game that is loads of fun with a duo spawn! And another player, ูˆุฌุฏุงู†., states he has the skill for the grenade launcher yet cannot craft it, which is a pretty infuriating bug to have.

Going for wider ones… JORGE SANDOVAL asks for a Spanish voice pack for PS5 players in Latin America, noting that merely changing console language does not work. real_818 is very simple and straightforward: “Fix sluggish parkour! ASAP!”. And MattmanDman is here all for the hoverboard as well. “Appreciate the gifts but give us the hover board on here please ๐Ÿ™ lol”. Hey, you can’t blame the guy for trying.

Yet there are some players that just shower with compliments and support from time to time. Joshua_Martin_D says: “I love how transparent and interactive yall are! Truly its amazing! Developers who love to play the game we play are so valuable to the player base!”. And NPC Juan Hidalgo wrote an entire paragraph singing praises of Techland as “one of the few companies that really care for and nurture your games even years after release.” Those are the good ones. tim timmer just states “Love the game, love the way you’re handling issues, bravo.”

But homeboy knows how one little hotfix announcement can swiftly turn into a full-blown town hall meeting. Players ask about a physical PS5 copy of the game, sales dates, as well as the “caster woods map.” All of these pieces of information show how engrossed people already are with this world that Techland has built. They want more; they want it fixed; they want it nowโ€”basically gaming culture bottled up.

Wait, what was I saying? Oh yeah, the hotfix. So yeah, Hotfix 1.2.1 is out. Go check your stash if you earned those Twitch drops or something that made you eligible for the axe and the car skin. There it should be. The rest? Well, looks like Techland is listening. They are replying to comments, saying “soon ๐Ÿ˜‰” to give vague time estimates and directing people to support. A process, you know? Game dev and live service is just an ongoing process of putting out fires and handing out cool axes. Maybe sometimes… you break the co-op while you’re at it. It happens. The important thing is that the communication seems to be there, something you can’t say for a lot of studios. So grab your new gear, try not to think about the sluggish parkour, and just enjoy whacking some zombies with that fire-looking axe for now.
