Techland has taken the wraps off the much-anticipated second week of their Dying Light 2 Winter Tales: Gifts from Above 2025 event, which incidentally has sparked a very mild reaction from the community. The tweet from the official account was full of the Christmas spirit where the players were said to have “killed” the first week and a new challenge was teased at the same time. However, the replies were not of soft jingle tunes but one big and annoyed question: Where are the rewards for week one?

The vibe is certainly not the right one. The Dying Light account’s tweet says, ‘Ho, ho, ho, great job, get ready for more!’ while players are saying, ‘Great, but my stash is empty.’ It has become quite a spectacle in fact.

According to the reports, quite a number of players are of the same opinion. For instance, ‘KaizdV’ without mincing words wrote, ‘Sooooo I see no rewards for week 1.’ ‘DoomJX’ putting it very simply asked, ‘where are week 1 rewards?’ but it wasn’t just one or two persons. ‘Fryker81’ went through the in-game stash, and also checked the claim tab on the website, and found nothing. ‘Mossberg71_’ was even more critical than the others as he questioned whether this whole thing was a joke. That really hurts.

This is the never-ending struggle with online games that have live services. You host a superb holiday event in order to bring in more players, but the reward delivery system collapses, and then you have the whole mob of parkour zombies at the gate, and they are anything but happy.

Nevertheless, there are some players who trying to calm down the situation with their rational points of view. Nicholas Montgomery, also known as ‘TheCheGuy420’, has been going around trying to comfort the upset people. He said that the delay most likely just a bug that will soon be fixed or perhaps the rewards will all be dropped at once when the event ends. ‘I think they will sort it out soon. Don’t worry,’ he said. That’s a pretty good opinion, to be honest. Such things happen, and there are even cases of event tracking causing confusion.

Still, the reward mess has caused a big outpouring of other, let’s say, long-standing community requests. Player ‘MikeMillz34’ took the opportunity to complain about the $16 bundles as a totally different pain point and also pointed out the problems created by unusual event items like the ‘stupid hats from carnage hall.’ His demand? Either enable us to get rid of that stuff or, for heavens’ sake, increase the stash size. ‘You should have fixed this issue already, it’s unreasonable,’ he added. One could just about feel his anger through the screen.

Then there are the nostalgic players. User ‘Usethis2lol’ used the opportunity to plead for the return of some classic Dying Light 1 costumes—the Joker costume, the Some Old Bones costume, the Christmas party blue suit. They want them to be reusable as Pilgrim Outpost rewards or to be included in-game events. It serves as a reminder that the most coveted prizes for a loyal fanbase are often the legacy ones that signify you have been there from the very beginning.

In all the technical requests and reward confusion, there was at least one touching moment. A gamer going by the name ‘John Bendy Demon’ must have mentioned their unbelievable playtime (the response to this is missing but we guess) because ‘paul gritton’ responded with, ‘Wow, you really ought to get out more, I thought I was bad with 2000 hours in lol.’ Then ‘TheCheGuy420’ joined in on that thread jokingly, ‘I thought I was bad with 800 💀😂.’ It is a nice little moment of community self-roasting among the chaos.

However, not all the side conversations were so light. ‘Emmanuel Ventura’ challenged the developers with a serious question, asking about the rest of the 2024 roadmap and whether technical and visual enhancements have been delayed or even canceled. He included the old roadmap image, which is a big deal for gamers waiting for specific upgrades. It shows that, for some, the seasonal events are fun but the future of the core game is what really matters.

So, what is the main takeaway from all this twitter discussion? The Winter Tales event is ongoing and week two has started. However, Techland has a problem in its public relations department due to the missing week one loot. It may very well be nothing more than a small glitch, these things usually are. The community is passionate and that is why they are so vocal when something goes wrong. They care enough to complain, you know?

The other comments further emphasize what players really want: efficient reward systems, and some are even discussing the legend levels debate. This situation highlights the diverse platforms players use, from PlayStation to Xbox.
